Biography

Background:  As for myself, not only was I struggling to feed myself and keep my small apartment, I also work on hiding secrets that not many know about.  First is the fact that I’m part of the moonshine/whiskey ring that myself and others have running.  Second, that I’m not human, I’m a shifter.  A werewolf.  Both of these secrets if the officials find out have me killed instantly.  Though I’m in contact with them every day, no one knows me here other than the handful of shifters that I’ve gotten close with and created this profitable business with.

So while the cotton gins and manufacturing businesses are in turmoil, the rise of the Depression is near, myself and a few select others have this ring that we run.  Only if my father could see me now, but praise the Lord he isn’t, he wasn’t one for secrets.

History:  Being the first generation daughter of two Irish immigrants from the first Irish Potato Famine, she was the middle child of a family that lived in rural Georgia and resided on a farm most of her life.  Mina was able to complete most of elementary school but not able to complete high school after the death of her parents.  Both of her brothers were easily taken in by neighboring farm families with knowledge that they carried on the genetic growing capability that their father had.  Mina was left to fend for herself from the age of 14 until she arrived in the city limits of Savannah.  She was raised to be respectful, modest, religious, and true to herself and her namesake.  Her father and mother were not strict or mean, but did expect their three kids to be well mannered towards others and to work hard no matter what.  Where she may have not been raised with a silver spoon and a padded wallet, she was taught morals and a code of self ethics which lasted her many years until she became a werewolf.

Mina moved from home to home until 17 when she was attacked on a foster home farm by a group of young playful wolves, which later turned out to be rogue werewolves who were out and about and had no formal pack skills thus when they scratched her when they were playing the infected her.  Mina kept to herself and fought through the first several full moons on her own not know what to expect but keeping as much of a distance from the public that she could so that her wolf would not be enticed to attack humans, as she had been.  Even though the attack was during play and not intentional. One of those pack members came back to her, another kid from another foster family, told her about a tale of a shifter pack in the city of Savannah that may be able to take her in.  He didn’t know if it was true, but she had to take the chance.

Still being so young, she felt timid in the world.  She would often have vivid dreams of trying to outrun the boys who infected her, something she'd only thought of in her nightmares and tales that her mom told her to keep her at home and not be a rebellious child.  After several failed attempts, going to other towns only to be hunted down when she was in wolf form, often times being shot at,, soon she'd healed up and finally reached the city.  Here, she found a group of people that taught her about being a werewolf and how to feed without being noticed, she'd found a place that she could call home in Savannah.

While they were a decade or so older than Mina, Tom and helena proudly took Mina under their wing and trained her to be an Eranthe.  Helena sensed a great deal of good from Mina and knew that something was special about her, having taken care of herself, healed herself without prior training, and knew what it was to struggle and survive.  Mina was a true lone wolf, but would always need the pack to guard her in her younger years.

As the pack grew, Mina was given more responsibilities and more information about the pack.  Some of what she learned, at times, she was thankful that her father wasn’t alive.  He was adamantly against alcohol and anything to do with it.  He found alcohol and sex were the downfall of man.  He preached to her and her brothers never to let the opposite sex persuade them to do anything unless they were married. Never to let liquor cross the lips unless you want the devil to possess your body and soul.  While Mina never had a drink she would often sniff the whiskey in its barrels and linger in the rooms where the moonshine would warm up and let the aromas dance around her until she was in a trance.

She tried to obey her father’s other preaching, but had let herself be kissed by a boy and even groped.  There was something about the male touch and closeness that she longed for.  She had to let go of her father’s voice that always sat at the back of her head lecturing her every move.  No longer was she the young girl that was under her mom’s apron skirt trying to take the dough out of the bowl when something sweet was being made.  No longer was she the one that was left behind when Pa and the boys went fishing.  No.  She was a young woman, who enjoyed kissing, the smell of a whiskey barrel opened, fishing at the edge of a pond with just her undergarments on so not to dirty her dress.  She enjoyed the feel of the forest brush along her furred belly as she ran along in the woods.  The smack and splash of water and puddles when she would flop in them at the end of a long run.

She was no longer her father’s daughter, but a ghost in a shell of what she was.  She had slowly learned to be herself and let some of her moral dilemmas not hinder her werewolf nature.

Nina is heir and caretaker to Stewards Keep.  The Kehoes adopted Mina when she first came to Savannah as an orphan.
