R. Bethany Allerton-Good

Name: Remembrance Bethany Allerton-Good (The hell that shall rain down on you if you call her Remembrance though...)
Age: Born June 30... uh, same year as Jade...
Occupation: Student

Type of wand core, length, and wood:  Hawthorn, Unicorn Hair, about 10 inches and springy. This is Beth's second wand to date as she lost her first wand in the chaos of her third year at SWI. It being an heirloom, her Granny was far, far, far less than pleased.
Blood Status: Pure Blood
Strengths: Beth has an aptitude for the non wand based magics actually such as potions and to a lesser extend Transfiguration, but her real talents lie in enchantments.
Weaknesses: She's manic-depressive and emo!

Hobbies: Cosmetic charms, Punk and Heavy Metal music (She plays Drums, Bass, and Rhythm guitar now), literature
Merits: Beth is loyal if a bit chaotic and creative if a bit dark.
Flaws: She tends to brood and dwell internally. She has piss-poor self0esteem (thanks Granny Good and a bad divorce).
Sexuality: Beth dates romantically and prefers sexually women, but does not identify as homosexual or lesbian. When pressed for an answer, she gives a very huffy, "I am Beth-sexual."

Appearance: When Beth was a child, she was very skinny and had knobbly elbows and knees. Her frame spoke of height and thinness. She also sported waist length coal black hair which tends to matt and frizz if left to its own devices. Luckily, Beth has had a lifelong obsession with tending to and caring for her hair that was intensified dramatically due to her friendship with a certain cosmetics loving Chinese friend. As a young girl and tween, she preferred long skirts/pants and long-sleeved band tees to hide her "misshapen" limbs. Her Granny had given her quite the body image complex by comparing her to her younger, far prettier sister. As she got older, her body began to fill in very nicely. While she would never make the cover of glamour, per se, she is a very attractive woman with a curvy figure, more hips than bust and on a long frame. Her long locks suffered from neglect and a bout of severe depression the year of her fifteenth birthday and she went through a phase with a pixie-bob cut that was perpetually died various psychedelic shades. She still prefers the bob but the colors are slightly more mono-chromatic now and less violent. She still has a penchant for skirts and long sleeves though as she finds they flatter her figure, though many disagree (notably Granny Good). Though she is quite skilled with it, Beth rarely wears makeup and never more than the minimum. "If they don't like how I look, then fuck em anyways.". She sports several piercings and a few tattoos in strategic locations. The piercings are for show but each patch of ink is precious and special to her. She does not share them with just anybody.

Personality: Beth is Manic-Depressive. Her home life when she was a child was over-protective and emotionally abusive. She comes from old blood and her Granny, who was her nanny, made sure she was reminded of it constantly. To this day, Granny Good is the only one who calls her Remembrance. Granny Good also heavily favored her younger, prettier, and blonder twin siblings Sarah and Thomas. Beth always took more after her raven haired, artistic mother rather than her business talented father. Still, she developed into someone who was steadfastly and resolutely loyal to her friends and an implacable enemy but cared little for the majority in between those extremes. However you saw it, Beth was quite sheltered before attending SWI and the experience galvanized her many ways, positive and negative. She met her first true and lasting friend, Jade, developed her first crush, also Jade, and experienced a tragic loss, various. To say that she was angsty was a violent understatement. If it had not been for her maternal grandfather, Pops, Beth would not have made it past fifteen. The man was the source of and fountain of her fascination with guitar and nurtured her growing aptitudes. After the divorce, she and her mother lived in Seattle and it soothed her quite a bit. These days, Beth is still a study in contrasts: passionate and cheerful or depressed and isolated. Those who stick it out and get to know her, find a passionate, loving, loyal woman. Beth's creativity and time in France have mellowed out her highs and lows a bit, but they still rule her life like the ocean.

History: The first child born after the Mayflower landed at Plymouth was one Remembrance Allerton and she is a direct ancestor of Beth's. The Allertons are American royalty and Beth's particular branch have been witches for about 150 years. This is combined, of course, with the Good blood from Salem, an old American wizarding family with connections back to old wizarding blood in Europe. To say the least, Beth is Pureblood and was never allowed to forget it or not told it made her important and special. That said, her mother had grown up in a blacksheep splinter of the Allertons from Seattle (Muggle sympathizers) and her father had been ostracized a bit for marrying her, moving from New York to Minneapolis. If Granny Good had had more than the one child, Beth might have never known her. If Pops Allerton had not lost his son Charlie in the Umbra plagues of the late twentieth century, Beth might not have been so sheltered. As it was, she was never allowed to leave the small gated wizarding community they lived in within Chanhassen in Minnesota. The community had been hit hard by Umbra years earlier, so other children her age were rare. She was raised by her paternal grandmother and drilled extensively in Wizarding History, pride, her own heritage, and the etiquette of being a proper lady. She was a morose little girl, but all that changed her eleventh year when she got to spend the summer with her grandfather in Seattle and first heard alternative rock. It was an immediate, life-long passion. Her grandfather happily paid for bass guitar lessons and Beth ahd her first real hobby.
Thus was she packed off to SWI for her first year after she turned twelve in June 30, 20??. Jade was the sort of impact upon Beth's life that a meteor might be on Earth. It was climactic, life-altering, and awesome. For the first year, Beth and Jade were inseparable friends and roommates. Beth wasn't naturally intelligent like some, but she was a studious girl and her grades showed it. Her knack with potions had her being one of the few who could aid in the making of the Lucida Potion. Still, the confrontation with Ngihtmare and end of the year were disturbing but nothing compared to the first year out from under her parents. It showed in the summer when she rebelled against her Granny's authoritarian rule. Her father continued to be absent and her mother stressed by work and her mother-in-law. Too, her younger siblings were now 11 and arrogant as hell. She spent June sulking then was shipped off to Seattle again after her birthday. She bloomed there and started learning Rhythm guitar and going to muggle music events, punk and alternative rock shows mostly.
The next two years were less positive for Beth as she began to bloom toward womanhood and developed a deep crush on Jade that she kept hidden from her friend. She loved Jack and wasn't into girls; still, Beth couldn't help but be seriously heart-broken by it all and withdrew a bit from her friends as the climactic confrontations with Nightmare began. By her third year, and now that her siblings were in school and making trouble for her, Beth's sanctuary in SWI was all but gone. She was harried, stressed, and unhappy constantly. She talked to noone, engaged in deeply destructive habits, and swirled in the grips of clinical depression. Even the previous summer in Seattle after her Granny gave up on her in a violent diatribe had helped only a little. It was Jack dying that broke the mood. Upon the news, she rushed to Jade and sobbingly apologized for being such a "bitch." She still never revealed her feelings but spent a lot of time helping her friends console Jade and one another. Even Beth needed a bit of help dealing with Jack's loss as he had been a friend of hers as well.
In a good mood now and reunited, Beth looked forward to her fourth year at school only to be crushed when her father adamantly refused to allow her back: a boy had died after all. Instead, Beth was packed up and shipped of to Beauxbatons. It was less a matter of Jack and more that her mother and father were messily divorcing and her mother was retaining custody of Beth while the twins stayed in Minnesota. Thomas and Sarah continued at SWI while her father stripped Beth from her in any way he could. Still, at SWI she had flowered away from the dark events of SWI and had become a confident, if damaged, and beautiful young woman with a deep interest in the arts and music. Beauxbatons school has a different schedule though, they start at 10 there) and it was all Beth could do to catch up and graduate on time. As a reward for graduating only one semester late, her mother and grandfather vacationed in Spain for Christmas and Beth studied Flamenco with the masters there.
