Of an average height, though perhaps shrunk some with age, this old man still looks vital and filled with vigor, a gruff determination set into his lined face.  He wears thin, patched ragged leather armor and carries a dinged and worn medium wooden shield.  The only thing of note is the orichalcum aspergillum at his waist, a Rod of Hermes, once encrusted with gems and precious materials, now only its silver inlays remain.

Though his weathered face is gruff, there is an openness to it, and something, maybe a twinkle in the eye, or a hidden smile, that reminds you of someone kindly, someone trustworthy.
