Long term goals:  Form a Triumvirate. Have his name and performances become known world-wide.

Player goals: I'd love to see Cyrille develop further, whether it's grow stronger or simply develop connections to other characters. To me he's someone who thrives with people around him and for now I'm leaving goals open as to not close off any possible interactions. I'd love for him to mark a servant or even form a triumvirate, using those as grounds and foundations for his abilities to expand and grow even stronger (in ways we've no-doubt spoken about at this point), but it's not exactly something I'm going to aim him towards, I want it to feel real and be based off actual game iteration and purpose rather than external (writer) desire.

History: Many might not recognize him for it, but Cyrille-Guillaume Lestat de la Tour d'Auvergne had been a fairly prominent figure in regards to the mortal world becoming aware of Vampires.  There were others before him, many which came later and other still who had a much larger hand in manipulating events which led to Vampires becoming accepted by modern society. Well, most of it at least.
Cyrille's  hand in Vampire's coming out of the darkness was more direct and yet, something which was still fairly subtle. It wasn't even realized until after the world became more aware and accepting of Vampires - after all - just because there was a book about something, didn't mean it was real. During the mid-twentieth century Cyrille revealed himself to a young author living in San Francisco. The author, of course, took several artistic licenses with the stories Cyrille told her, but still, his life and experiences became the foundation for her series. And so were Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles born.

The character of Lestat was heavily based off Cyrille himself, and while many aspects of his history were changed, there were certain qualities she left unadulterated.
In truth, Cyrille was not illiterate, nor was his family poor. Cyrille was born to Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne on November 7th, 1594 in the region of Auvergne. He was born during the marriage of Henri and Charlotte de La Marck but Cyrille was born to the woman who would be Henri's second wife, Countess Elisabeth of Nassau. After Charlotte died during childbirth, Henri re-married but Cyrille was never properly recognized by either the church (Protestant) or King of France and would thus never properly inherit his father's lands or titles - not over his siblings at least. Henri's action of honouring the decision was most likely due to pressure felt by the Catholic/Protestant fighting.  The King himself would soon be ousted from his position and the country was at war... Henri probably thought it'd be wisest to have his official heir be a child who was born into wedlock. Regardless, Cyrille was still raised alongside his siblings and treated no differently than any other French aristocratic child would be; the best available tutors and education were provided to him as were riding lessons, fencing, hunting and court etiquette.

Though there were changes made, much of 'The Vampire Lestat' was still true. Raised alongside them but never quite one of them, Cyrille felt as though he was despised by his siblings and father, the latter always critizing Cyrille's lack of ambition or fickle mentality when it came to interests and desires; each summer Cyrille would have  a new favourite hobby or love, never able to truly settle on any one thing.

Some examples of his fickle attitude would be that while he was sixteen Cyrille spent the summer with a group of traveling performers. It was with the troupe where Cyrille developed his fondness for performing and his first true love and ambition was born: that of music. This love of course, needed to be kept private from his father, but his mother secretly encouraged it. For nine months Cyrille had spent time within a monastery questioning his role in the universe, his purpose of life. For a while he had even designed to become a Monk, much to the disdain of his father, but it was a goal never attained, because when his father and mother both fell ill and Cyrille was needed to return home and tend to his family, he did without hesitation. He had also spent two years establishing himself as a Hunter, earning a name for himself among the town.

Also true to Anne Rice's tale was Cyrille's relationship with the child of a middle-classed family named Nicolas, the educated son of a draper. The two had originally met as young children during an outing to "The Witches Place", a location where witches were burned at the stake in previous years. The two would not meet again until years later.

One winter a pack of Wolves believed to be led by a Lycanthrope had descended upon the region, killing livestock and even a child who had been playing out in the woods. At the urging of his town, Cyrille had decided to head in to the mountains. He stalked the wolves to their den and set traps. He killed the pack of eight, losing his dog, his horse and almost his own life in the process. Luckily enough for him, the rumours of a Lycanthrope leader which had kept the other men away had proven to be false.  Nicolas had been the town's representative, presenting Cyrille with a red velvet cloak and boots lined with the pelts of the wolves he had killed. Nicolas had also sought to speak privately with Cyrille asking him how he achieved the impossible.  At first Lestat was uninterested, not wanting to relive the night he politely declined - it was only after learning from his mother that Nicolas too was somewhat of a rebel that Lestat became interested.  He had learned that returned to the village because he was in disgrace. Nicolas had been sent to Paris to study law at the Sorbonne but instead fell in love with the violin. He had abandoned his studies and sold his textbooks to take lessons from Mozart and although he had returned to the Auvergne, Nicolas has not given up his dream and continues to play his violin at home, prompting his father to threaten to break his hands.

That night Cyrille had sought out Nicolas at the village tavern and the two quickly become inseparable, having long conversations about religion, philosophy, the universe and music. Other than his own mother, Nicolas was the only person Cyrille told the full story of his night with the wolves and the depression which followed. He and Nicolas soon ran away together to Paris, where they found work in a small theatre on the Boulevard du Temple, called Renaud's.

Unlike the stories, Cyrille knew his maker. One night after a performance in Paris he was approached by Jean-Claude and brought to Belle Morte herself, who later turned him. This is where the story takes another deviation, as Cyrille never returned to his family, nor did he turn his lover Nicolas or his mother Elisabeth into Vampires - he would admit to the author that he had desired too, but that other things had prevented him. Those 'other things' which he couldn't detail too specifically was that he spent a hundred years at Vampire court with Belle Morte, serving and learning from her directly - despite his love for Nicolas and his mother and his desire to gift them with a new life, one did not simply walk away from Belle Morte.

Cyrille's Ardeur awoke in him differently than how it had in other children of Belle Morte. For Cyrille, it wasn't just sex which fed him; sex and lust were things he loved of course, he had developed a means of feeding the Ardeur off one's temptation and anticipations - foreplay and sexual frustration - but he found that true satiation of his Ardeur came through the emotions he fed off while playing music. More specifically, the emotions and desires he could entice in others through his music.

After Jean-Claude left for the New World, Cyrille was discarded by Belle Morte who stated that his music pained her and only brought forth unwanted memories of the lovers that left her. Lost and without direction he traveled Europe and Asia, experiencing several moments which would later appear (and be further altered) in Anne Rice's novels.  Armand and Marius are two such persona's, for example.

Cyrille traveled to the New World and traveled, though he seemed to primarily settle in New Orleans. Some say he became the city's Master, though it is a title which Cyrille would deny holding. For starters, he travels more frequently and comfortably than any other Master of a City would; for example, his travels with Louis and Claudia actually occurred, even though neither were turned by Cyrille himself.  So either he feels extremely comfortable in his power base and who he's leaving in charge while he's gone or he's not the Master at all, nor is he even truly tied to the city but instead just has a strong affinity for it.

Another aspect the books got right was his persona and flair, especially in regards to performing and music. Cyrille acts as a musician, performing in massive concerts where he freely incorporates glamour, magic, empathy and a wide array of Vampire (and other Supernatural) abilities in order to entertain his audience - as well as to feed his Ardeur.

Recently, Lestat (Cyrille) came to Michigan in order to perform an unforgeable concert and feed his Ardeur (as well as his thirst for the stage). While he was touring Michigan, Marquette's Master was killed and Lestat now finds himself in the middle of a hostile city with a delicate political structure. But is he staying to help set things right, or to abuse the chaos?
