Temush is a relict of the Big Pecker ostrich clan who had left on a vision quest before the Broo ambush annihilated his kin. He now hates Broos more than ever, and hopes to serve the Rangers who pursued them, while still looking for any other survivors. He is one of the small-folk nomads (~120cm 30kg), young, round faced but not child-like, his expression is often blank, as if he is detached from his surroundings. His hair is covered by a wrapped cloth except for the dark lock at the back in which his gold feather is bound. His eyebrows are dark and his irises an orange-brown. He does not have many visible scars.

His mother was Brisna Nest-hare, she was raised by Khan Sky Bone Blue and her husband was Alev Brass-hat. His sisters were Del Full-sweep and Mirie. They are all dead now, and Temush lives.

People question whether his readiness to find common cause with others goes against Waha's way. Temush respects Waha as a survival teacher but is not convinced of the usefulness of internecine clan and tribal feuding, and may drift into other unconventional lines of thought.

Stomp is his mount and his birds of burden are Slide and Glide. He has a bound spirit Peevt in the body of a small owl. Slide and Glide think Stomp is amazing and follow him everywhere. Stomp accepts this as his due and takes care to alert them to whatever danger and good vittles he spots.
