While not as tall or muscular woman as her forbearer, Zedai Griffin, Alaina is still far above the average Inner Sphere woman. With strong features, she's still considered a handsome woman by most, but her beauty is that of an Amazon. Like many in the 5th, Alaina doesn't put as much importance on a daily uniform. Instead of fatigues or even a duty uniform, if she isn't in her combat cooling suit and ready to go straight into combat, she's in a set of brown leather pants and jacket, unit patches and rank set on the jacket as if it were a uniform.

If seen with her arms bare, a tattoo of a golden Cameron Star set on a set of black rings is placed on her upper right arm and bicep. Surrounding the star in a ring are the words Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes in a red. Done in special ink, the tattoo glows slightly even in the light, and brightly in the dark. This is the famous 'Brand' of the Gunslingers, illegal for anyone else to have.

The product of Zedai Griffin's giftake, Alaina excelled among both her gene siblings and sibko. By the time she had finished her first tour, she was immediately put through OCS, gaining a lance command within the command company of her Regiment, the Shadow Hawks. Sent to the Gunslinger Program at 27, on her return she was given command of her own company, climbing to Major by 29, then becoming the Colonel in 3128 at only the age of 32. She is considered extremely popular and skilled as both a Mechwarrior and Commander within her regiment, though she is also known for her dislike of the petty politics seen within the Command Council. She is also believed to have been groomed for the position by her predecessor Colonel, Sasha Artio, who was only in command for six years before he retired.
