The phrase most often used to describe Gayle Avery is 'little ray of sunshine'.  If there's a mean bone in her body, no one's managed to actually find it yet.  If someone has a problem, she's the first one to offer to help -- simply out of the goodness of her heart.  She never asks for anything in exchange.  She's cheerful and bubbly, scrappy, and eager to please without being a pushover.  An exceptional pilot, especially in fast, light 'mechs, Gayle is middle-of-the-road average in pretty much everything else, and not too proud to ask for help from others that are better.  On leave days, she likes to be out and doing something -- hiking, climbing, tooling around the lake in a rented boat -- that isn't sitting in a club or a theatre, often making it her mission to take as many other people with her as possible to 'See things!'  She is especially fond of the PETB (that's People for the Ethical Treatment of Bjorns) rallies, and keen to drag other people along to experience the event.  Thankfully, she's not gotten anyone picked up by the 'Watch while doing so since her first semester at First Sword.
