Brief Bio: Mr. Ratcliff was a Confederate soldier from Georgia who fought in and survived the Civil War.  He was present when General Robert E. Lee surrendered.  As the Primogen of clan Ventrue, Mr. Ratcliff spends a great deal of time in the kindred spotlight.  Usually it's good, since the Harpies tend to favor Mr. Ratcliff more than Mr. Davis, but just as often, the southerner finds himself entangled in a social mess because of his rivalry with the older, more antagonistic Brujah.  Were it not enough that the Primogen of clan Ventrue was caught in a constant battle with the Brujah, the last two decades have seen a collapse in his relationship with the Tremere.  He respects the Tremere.  He even admires their unity, but he does not trust them.  Nor does like the amount of power they hold.  More than once he or one of his brood have run afoul of the Tremere and their influence.

The humor behind his situation is that Mr. Ratcliff hates the spotlight, yet can't stay out of it.  He is up north, where he has been for the last century, but would definitely be better off if he stayed down south somewhere.  He is caught battling a never ending war with two of his bitter foes, primogen of both clans Brujah and Tremere, in an obviously losing effort, but refuses to end either grudge and bury the hatchet.

In spite of the criticism, Primogen Ratcliff is still a kindred to be taken seriously.  He commands great personal wealth, loyal childre, a large quantity of mortal ghouls, and a great deal of influence.  His debts of gratitude are kept in a positive balance, and he does get along well enough with anyone that isn't a bitter rival.
