xxApex (Deceased)

Her hair is cut short and worn close to her head, and her clothing is a strange cross between athletic wear, a soft-shell EVA suit, and a wetsuit. It is colored a deep, vibrant crimson hue which matches favorably with her black boots, gloves, and belt. This belt contains a low-slung holster from which the butt of a pistol can be seen.

She is the leader of the Titan colony and Director of Project Huygen.

Her given name is Lana Wray.

***

Consumed a Roshak warsphere, granting her the authority of a Warcaller and many strange Roshak powers.

Defeated in an Amgine Factory ship above the Compound on Titan, overwhelmed by a psychic attack from Rebecca and constant pummeling from Abraxas and Billy.

Scent of Deeds #1:

You suddenly become flooded with a vision -- an overwhelming cascade of sensations stemming from the scent of Apex's mighty and terrible deeds.

You see an enormous egg-shaped vessel approaching Titan -- not the fortress you saw today,  but a sparsely populated (but heavily militarized) colony mainly supported by orbital ships and stations. The vessel's shiny carapace has a large crack running down one side, and two holes in the hull that are "patched" by blue energy fields.

You see a smaller egg-shaped ship of similar construction leave its mothership and land primly upon the surface of Titan, its inhabitants clearly Roshak as they step outside to greet the Titan contingent of colonists.

You see a younger Apex watching as her superiors lead the welcoming delegation. She shakes her head and narrows his eyes, distrustful. Quietly, she taps a button on her shoulder and gives an order. "Fire."

You see a pair of orbital strikes rain down upon the two Roshak, who respond by violently dismembering several members of the welcoming committee. Apex flashes a smile and gives another order, this time aloud. "Contain the savages!"

You see mechs being deployed, successfully overwhelming the two Roshak, chaining their limbs, and dragging them into an observation facility.

You see the lander rise under its own power and return to its mothership, which has begun to pull closer to Titan and hum with blue energy.

You see a younger Apex forcefully arguing that the fleet must be deployed to bring down the mothership -- this viewpoint seems to be in the minority among the other 5 people in the board room, several of whom accuse Apex of being behind this whole fiasco. Apex, for her part, blames the orbital strike on a malfunction but claims it was fortuitous, given the obvious danger posed by these creatures.

You see the mothership rake the Braeburn fleet with pulses of blue energy, which cause a number of ships to explode. The fleet is dispatched to retaliate, thus Braeburn ships and mechs mass against the mothership. They hammer away at the cracked and patched portions of the hull. Eventually one of the patches is breached, and the mothership goes into a death spiral that impacts with the surface of Titan.

You see teams of mechs and troops and scientists descending upon the crashed ship. Some of the Roshak survive, and battle is joined upon the surface of Titan. There are many deaths, but the Titan colonists outnumber the surviving crew of the mothership. Braeburn is victorious.

You see Apex arguing with a boardroom full of men and women wearing a similar uniform. She storms out of the room, and a pair of guards fall into place as she walks directly to the crash site. She enters the downed mothership and navigates its passages until she reaches a central area. A scientist is already there, and holds aloft a gelatinous crystal that pulses with blue energy.

You see Apex's mouth curl into a smile as the scientist explains that the object was extracted from the mothership's commander's body, and seems to hold the key to the Roshak's strange powers.

You see Apex ask the man to explain it again, and then to show her where he got it. When the man turns his back, Apex shoots him and takes the object for herself. Her guards, standing with their backs against the doorway, either do not notice or do not care.

You see Apex looking at the object in her quarters. And then you see her consume it. She goes catatonic for a short while, then her eyes snap open -- backed by the blue energy they contain even now.

You see Apex return to the board room, flanked by her two guards. She invites them to follow her, as she wants to show them something interesting. They follow along, and wind up in one of the observation rooms where the bodies of the Roshak who had been killed are being stored. She asks the board to draw closer...and then her eyes flicker with blue energy. The bodies of the Roshak arise and murder the board members. Apex makes a show in front of the security cameras trying to "resist", and "heroically" drops the corpses back to their tables and restrains them.

You see Apex sitting alone in the board room, her guards nearby, and two corpses of the Roshak being placed onto either side of the room "to remind her of the savagery of the foe they face".

You see scaffolding go up around the crater as the great stadium you're standing in is constructed around the crash site. You see more bodies of the Roshak being dragged inside and dissected.

You see Apex looking over a pile of reports, many of which are from "Rebecca Taylor". You see her keying information into the Archive, and overseeing scientists as they test out new technologies built on the backs of stolen Roshak equipment, vehicles, and body parts.

You see more egg-shaped ships approaching Titan, their intentions clear. And you see that Apex was ready for them. The fleet has been engaged ever since.
