Vaas the Unbroken

Vaas the Unbroken, the Sword That Flows as if a River. Keshamar Exile, Prince-Captain of the Horned Legion

Age: 208

Appearance: Vaas is a tall and imposing figure, standing at six and a half feet. His body, honed by war and training, is composed of firm, lean muscle. His eyes are a dark, yellow-goldish color, and his skin is a dark blue, almost black, that occasionally shimmers and shifts colors in low light. When on duty or in battle, he wears the ornate scale and lamellar armor and signature horned helm of his order,  and bears a long, slightly curved greatsword. His three small horns are adorned with brilliant gold calligraphy, in a script that matches no other designs on the horns of any other Keshamar.

Personality/Reputation: Like most of his kind, Vaas is an enigma to most humans. He is slow to anger, and seems to be perpetually amused by the antics and behavior of most humans, even in battle. Despite his position as a warrior, he is incredibly kind and sympathetic, often bringing gifts to the servants to lighten their moods, or medicines to heal ailments of human soldiers, who didn't even know they were sick yet. He is fiercely loyal to his vows to the Riik of Yakolan, and to his fellow brothers.

History: Vaas' past is unknown, and he speaks little of it, save to draw upon it to offer anecdotes or words of wisdom to his subordinates and humans. What is known is that he was discovered by the Riik of Yakolan, when he was visiting Talakand. There, Vaas was a lowly gladiator in the fighting pits, but it did not appear that he was a slave: instead, it seemed he was there willingly. Impressed by his skill, the Riik offered Vaas gainful and honorable employment with the Horned Legion, a small army of Keshamar exiles that had served the Riiks of Yakolan for nearly a century by that point.

Vaas accepted, and quickly rose up in the ranks of the Horned Legion, fighting in border skirmishes with Naokai, Talakand and Tasaikand, and leading efforts to quell rebellions by the troublesome Prince-Electors of Yakolan.

When the Prince-Captain of the Legion was killed by assassins hired to avenge the defeat of a powerful Naokai warlord, Vaas was promoted, and lead the reprisal campaign that brought the warlord and his assassins to justice. He has served in this post for nearly two decades, faithfully serving and watching over the Riik and his family.
