Riikita ("the Queen of Concubines") of the late Riik Kzari

Age: Mid-twenties

Appearance: Mahira has the typical green-tinted, slightly iridescent skin of her people. Her hair is black, thick and curly, again with a slight shine and sparkle to it. Her eyes are dark grey, usually with blue flecks, though the little colourful spots can change hue with her mood. She is quite tall and her build is a little sturdier than that of a human woman, but her figure is still quite feminine.

History: At age seven, Mahira was given to the temple of The Lady, one of the mysterious gods of the Itkolani. She was well taken care of by the priesthood there and displayed extraordinary talent in the ways of the bones. She caught the eye of the Riik when he came to the temple looking for answers soon after his ascension to the throne. Soon, she was whisked away to be his private bone-reader and his concubine. She soon achieved the title of Riikita—the "queen" of the harem— and was sometimes treated even better than the wives of the Riik, especially after the birth of her son less than a year after she started to share the Riik's bed.

During her time at the palace, Mahira was reunited with her younger sister, Ezera, who was a concubine of the Riik's brother. When Kzari was killed when out on a hunt, Ezera heard seditious talk and was able to get word to her sister that his brother sought the throne. The warning gave Mahira enough time to take her son and their supporters and flee. Unfortunately, Fairaz sniffed out the truth and had Ezera tortured and locked away, preventing her escape along with her sister.
