PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Simon has a roughly rectangular face with a broad nose, and strong jawline and chin. His skin has a light pinkish pigment to it with no freckles or moles. He stays clean shaven using a safety razor, shave soap, brush, and alum block, like his grandfather taught him. He does not have a lot of body hair, aside from the usual places, and what there is, isn't particularly thick or coarse. He is able to visit a barber regularly and keeps his hair long enough to do something with, but never long enough to get in his eyes or in the way when he's running or at the dojo.
He has a good frame, with broad shoulders and more wiry muscles. He typically stays in shape through running, swimming, and martial arts practice, not spending a lot of time in the weight room. He has managed to make it to 20 years old without ever breaking a bone or suffering a serious injury, despite having been involved in school sports or martial arts practice for most of his life.
He has a tattoo on the inside of his left forearm of a character he doesn't recognize that he doesn't remember getting, which was there one day, the morning after he and Thomas had been drinking and must have decided to get matching tattoos. He has no piercings and no other ink.
He wears a 10-1/2 shoe, typically in comfortable street shoes like Adidas, or running shoes. For the most part is clothing is casual, leaning toward business casual, and usually close to new. He prefers jeans, but doesn't mind khakis; leans toward polos and nice t-shirts, but doesn't cry about button downs. Due to biking to and from class, he never dropped his backpack for a messenger bag when those became "in." He's also one of those people that you don't mind seeing in bike shorts. Simon's grandfather was a Dodgers fan before the team left Brooklyn and remained a fan over the years, despite the betrayal. He eventually, begrudgingly accepted the Yankees as an alternate. In the collection of "hats he doesn't wear often," Simon has ones for the Dodgers and the Yankees from MLB, the Giants from the NFL, the Knicks from the NBA, and the Rangers from the NHL.
He has always had perfect vision, but keeps a pair of gold aviator sunglasses for bright, sunny days. The only jewelry he wears is a high school class ring.

PROFILE:
He is, at turns, quiet and outgoing. As the mood strikes, he may be contemplative or energetic and talkative. He is sufficiently functional socially that many of his classmates refused to believe that a friend had seen him playing Magic: the Gathering at a shop with his crew. They all thought he was too normal to be into nerdy shit like that. It was likely his expressed interest (and participation) in sports, ability to talk to people he was interested in dating, and being smart without being an ass about it. No one ever looked at young Simon and condensed his actions down to nerd rage.
He is a generally upbeat, optimistic individual. His relationship with his father is somewhat cool, in part due to the latter's busy schedule and Simon's decision to pursue an education in his mother's field. Regardless, he looks up to both of his parents with a fair amount of respect. He is not particularly close with his sisters, in part due to the age gap (he was 9 when they were born) and the fact that they function as one another's permanent best friends.
He tries to take moderate, or rational, stances on issues where necessary. In part based on an appreciation for the core concept of Mill's Utilitarianism, 'doing the most good.' He is generally of the opinion that extreme view points are ultimately harmful, in particular because they tend to lose sight of the value of individuals in favor of pursuing the end goal. He is close to his grandfather, learning much of his initial life philosophy from a man who survived the holocaust to become an American citizen, and raise a family. All without hating the people who had made much of his young life an unceasing cavalcade of trauma and pain. As his grandfather likes to say "once you've been in a camp like that, one person disagreeing with another about who to vote for just doesn't seem all that important."
