Quinn was found by an older couple in a forest in the Windhag Mountains. He doesn't know who his parents were, only that he was found near his adopted mother's path when she would venture into the forest to look for herbs and wild berries.  They were farmers and herders, making a living by farming and raising livestock.  He learned to mend clothes, what plants are good to eat,and other tasks on a farm.  As he began adolescence, it became clear he had the gift of magic, and his curiosity about the world got him into trouble on more than one occasion. His parents realized he needed more than they could provide, and was sent to his teacher in Havena.  There his predilection for curiosity served him well, and was more often than not rewarded (unless he got into his teacher's reagents without supervision).  After many years of study and work, he was sent out into the world to learn what he could, as long as he shared what he learned with his teacher. His teacher, an older, kindly man treated him well though firmly.  He also made sure Quinn could handle himself with a staff, since using magic can be unwise, depending on the situation.  Growing up on a farm made Quinn rather fit, even for a mage.  His curiosity can be a problem, his elven ancestry is clear both from his ears, his height and sensitive nose.  He was only a few days from leaving his teacher in Havena, Ulrich ofCraggenmore, and contemplating how he was going to earn some money, when he saw a meteor streak across the sky and disappear beyond the Kosh Mountians.  Meteoric ore is known to have magic properties; it would be prudent to get there first.  He would leave for the Kosh Mountains at first light..

When you see Quinn, he's wearing the typical robes of a guildless mage; grey woolen robes, simple boots and a pack slung over his shoulder carrying his personal possessions, including his spellbook. He uses his mage's staff as a walking stick ,and he's had some instruction on using it for self-defence.  His black hair is shoulder length and kept in a ponytail, tied with a simple leather cord.
