The enigmatic Lady of the Lake is the daughter of two of Avalon's mages: Vivian, a powerful rune-witch of the Valdaermen, and Maelgwn, a bard and follower of The Old Faith.

Nimue's birth was foretold by both runes and stars, and some whisper that she may well be the fulfillment of some ancient prophecy.  The whispers never agree on exactly what this prophecy might be, but when asked, Nimue's reply is always the same: What is to come, will come.
