Sesus Raenyah Korval

Description:

Korval is a tall, well muscled Dynast, with very dark, nearly jet-black skin that hardens and takes on the appearance of marble when his Essence is roused. His hair is styled in thick dreadlocks that reach down to his shoulders.

Early Life

Korval had a relatively normal childhood (as far as Dynasts go), not taking his first step towards greatness until his third year in primary school. A few months after his twelfth birthday, he participated in a tug of war competition, being placed in the rear as an anchor for his team. As the match progressed, Korval's team found themselves outmatched by their opponents, and were on the verge of defeat. Just before they would have lost however, Korval felt strength surge through him, and found that he could not moved, no matter how hard the other team pulled. His teammates fled his fledgling anima, and Korval won the match by himself, dragging the other children across the field like toys. From that day forward, he was removed from his current class and placed in a curriculum with other children who had attained Exaltation.

After completing primary school, Korval was brought before his mother and grandmother to decide his future. He was much to large to be an effective spy, and he would never be able to navigate the floor of the Senate- he was much too direct to be an effective politician. He was a blunt instrument, he said, to be wielded against the Empire's enemies. The Legion was his future. His grandmother agreed, and so Korval found his way to the House of Bells.

Sabbatical and the Finding of the Fist

After graduating second in his year (a Tepet took the top honors) Korval decided to take a sabbatical to tour the Threshold, as was expected of young Dynasts. With a commision as a Scalelord waiting for him upon his return, he set out with some of his cousins into the wide world of Creation, a world that was his to rule by divine right.

After a series of adventures and near his tour's end, he was called upon by a local group of shikari to assist with thier hunt of a Moon-Mad Anathema. When the Wyld Hunt fell upon the beast, Korval saw that it was wielding a legendary weapon: The Fist of Titans, a relic of Terrestrial glory not seen since the Divine Revolution when it was carried by the Nameless Dragon-Blooded Hero. After slaying the monster, Korval took the weapon for his own, intending to write his own legend with it. He had no idea how soon that legend would start.

Soon after, Korval received a summons from home, calling him back to the Isle. It seemed that the Empress had been gone for too long, and the major powers were tired of waiting to start jockeying for the throne. War was coming.

The Hammer of Sesus

When the war began in earnest, Korval saw action on several different fronts. Beginning as a Scalelord with the 4th Sesus Legion, his first battle was the capture of Mnemon-Darjilis. After two months of systematically smashing against the city's defenses, Korval was able to discover a weak point. Breaking off from the main contingent, Korval led his force to the lightly defended area, Korval used the Fist of Titans to blast a hole in the walls, allowing the Sesus forces to pour into the city, taking Mnemon's home and valuable hostages. For his actions, Korval was promoted to Talonlord and became known as The Hammer of Sesus, a moniker that followed him for the rest of the war, from the Fields of Rue to the Silk-and-Pearl Peninsula, to the Imperial City itself.
