Jack Flash was once a Ghost Hunter with a TV show, but he performed a rite in a "haunted house" that accidentally opened a portal to Arcadia. The Faerie on the other end liked Jack's spark, so she turned him into a candle, to burn for her forever. Many years later, another slave was cleaning the mantle while humming Jack's favorite song. Remembering he had once been human broke the spell, and Jack fled back to the world. However, when he got back he found that the Faerie who had captured him had also replaced him with a duplicate, who was sleeping with his wife. In a fit of rage he murdered them both then burned the house down, then fled into the night, vowing to destroy any and all traces of Arcadia he could find to sever the connection between this world and theirs.
