Background: Growing up in Russia, Nikolay had a very troubled youth. His father was abusive, and his mother would frequently vanish for months at a time. At a young age, Nikolay began to fall in with the wrong crowd. As soon as he was old enough, he left his home. He worked construction in Russia, coming home after many long days with aching muscles. Often times he would turn to heavy drink and cigarettes, using them as an escape.
Nikolay emigrated to the United States only a couple of months before the world ended. Hoping to make a life for himself in the 'land of opportunity,' he ended up in the City of Bradshaw. Things were going better for him, but then the bombs came. He managed to survive by rushing to the metro. Picking up work as a coal miner in the Unified Collective, Niko would once again find himself working long days. His lonely existence would continue for quite sometime, until one day he saw a stray orphaned boy wandering a lone in the station. Without having much of a reason, Nikolay decided to take him in. He has looked after him ever since.
Appearance: Nikolay would be a tough one to miss in a crowd. Standing at 6'2, and with broad shoulders, he can be an imposing person. Small scars scatter his body, his many nights on the streets leaving their mark. However, with age, Nikolay has changed. He no longer has the same strength he did in his younger days, and his body shrinking slightly from the struggle of finding a meal. The large muscles he once possessed have slowly degraded, though he is still quite strong. Nikolay has dark brown hair, to match his dark brown eyes, with a strong jawline, and a crooked nose.
Personality: Slow to act, Nikolay is one who likes to think through the many different outcome of his actions. Despite this, when Nikolay says to do something, he expects it to be down without questions. Nikolay is a cold person to most people, and finds it very difficult to trust others. Still, when he gets a few drinks in him, or sometimes on very rare occasions, he can be outright jovial. He also has a soft spot for Arkady, seeing him as family, and is willing to do whatever needs to be done to ensure his safety. Nikolay has strong Russian accent, and often struggles to understand English if spoken too fast.
Knowing both the world before, and after the apocalypse, Nikolay has a sort of bitterness towards the whole situation, a bitterness which sometimes manages to boil over.
