Background: One day, if one can tell day in a place with no sun or moon, a Merchantry league caravan was on its way to purchase and pick up a load of water. One of the guards saw something she first thought was a Spirit, but it fell down with a groan. It was found to be a man, badly injured but somehow still alive. He was clad in what was left of a uniform, a small insignia barely readable through blood bore the letters A.T.S. He was taken to Avis Station so he wouldn't have to die in the tunnels, but he continued to hang on and somehow got better. He was found to have a talent for machines and fighting, so he was kept on as a member of the station.

Appearance: Muscled, fit, bald with a massively disfigured face like if shredded raw hamburger could heal over. Wears coveralls mainly, on and off duty since he could get called on an emergency at any time; he had a loop put on them, so he could carry a pipe wrench hands free. He could use it as a weapon and has, but doesn't need to as is made evident by the butt of a gun sticking out of one pocket.

Personality: Spirit doesn't speak much, but if that's because it hurts him to talk or he just has little to say is unclear. He is quiet, thoughtful, can take his time or rush into a matter depending on what he sees as needed at the time. He is tormented about his forgotten past; the only clues he has are terrifying nightmares he awakens with no recollection of, and feelings of déjà vu so strong they trigger flashes of unclear and confusing images or sounds if not both. He is a member of Avis Station, but he continues to wonder even now if he's actually accepted or merely tolerated for his skills.
