Melenya Lothain's childhood was pretty normal when she was young.  Born to a successful merchant she was instilled with a strong work ethic as her father taught her the family business.  She was being groomed to take over for her father when her life would be changed forever.

She was traveling with her father in a merchant train from Illian to Camelyn when their train came under attack by bandits.  The Queens Guard had a passing patrol which heard the attack and came to assist.  They drove off the bandits but not before many, including her parents were killed.

The patrol brought the survivors to the city to treat their wounds where she was taken in by one of the men in the patrol.  He was like a second father to her and taught her his craft.  She learned the art of swordsmanship from the age 10 never intending to stop until she mastered it.

Her adoptive father enamored her with Gleeman's tales of Blademasters of old.  She chose to leave her new home at the age of 18, the tales from her father vibrant in her head as she set out to help those that couldn't help themselves.  Her father gave her his sword, the same one that vanquished the bandits that brought them together.

Those that meet her see one of two things.  The weak and frightened see a Valkyrie riding in fierce and beautiful, despite the scars she has earned.  The corrupt and evil hearted see their demise, though they can't believe it will be a woman that brings them to justice.

She stands 5'7" and weighs 135 pounds.  Her hair is blonde and tied back to stay out of her face with a piece of her father's old merchant banner.  In the heat of combat it comes loose sometimes making her appear even more wild and dangerous.  She rarely parts with her sword or armor and even then it stays within eyesight at all times.
