Age: 25

Appearance: Rani is slightly shorter than most Gherai, but has the slender and strong frame that is typical of the species. She has dark hair that she keeps cropped short. Her eyes have yellow rings around them, but are in fact very dark blue.

History: Rani was born on Serapis, while the wars were still raging. Her mother, a human, did not speak of the girl's father, even after it was obvious that he had been a Gherai. Rani was sent away to live with family on Horus Prime when she was eight years old, and never returned to Serapis. Her mother died in a shuttle crash several years later, and any information about her father was lost with her.

She was not from a wealthy family, and thus worked very hard from a young age to help put food on the table. She took to tinkering with gadgets around the house in her spare time and soon discovered that she had a knack for electronics. After reading and more practice, she was able to take on repairs and small projects for her family and also the extended neighbourhood, saving them the price of a technician from a big firm. When she was in her later teens, she managed to make improvements to several products, and through word of mouth was contacted by one of the largest engineering firms on Horus Prime. They paid for her to attend higher education, where she excelled and graduated within two years, and she was then employed in research and development.
