Ardens

Characters Description:

Though lacking an imposing stature, Ardens is pretty fit and wiry and very quick on his feet.  He was bored by the options available to him on his homeworld and longs to better himself - which is to say live comfortably - and is not too choosy as to how he achieves that lofty goal.  Far brighter than is good for him or anyone gives him credit for, as he knows enough to hide it.  Not good around people, and ashamed about his poor circumstances, he's at least able to spin enough clever lies to fit in, and smart enough that he doesn't overdo it.

While he'd like nicer clothes, he's never been able to afford such, and doesn't want to look like an easy mark anyway, so settles for worn but practical and comfortable.

Not much to look at, and few ever look twice, at that lank, mousey brown hair and long nose, he gets his work because he's competent and quick to learn, though lazy with it ... which means his employers are rarely sorry to let him go.

Background/History of your character:

Ardens grew up in an underground Company research and development complex where the populace sheltered from the howling, corrosive winds that regularly scoured the planet's surface.  Son of a lowly maintenance engineer, he received what limited schooling the Company provided in the way of training for a future less than stellar career following in his mother's footsteps.  A veteran of the often-as-stipulated emergency drills he knows how to just get by in the wild - at least in theory.

When a visiting supply ship lost its computer technician when attacked by pirates en route, Ardens jumped at the chance to join up and get off-planet.  Since then, he's drifted from one shipboard post to another, depending on what he could get, picking up a bit of everything here and there.

Representing his best pay-off to date, Ardens was a last minute replacement to join a mercenary team as technical support in a raid on an Ancients site, picking up something of the language of that mysterious race and, against his better judgment, learning how to fire a gun, though thankfully he never had to use it in anger on that mission.
