Jacob is a tall, lean man. Generally his expression is serious and manner reserved although he does demonstrate the traditional Avalonian generosity and hospitality. While serious he is not rude or unfriendly but rarely given to frivolity.

Like most Objectionist Puritans, Jacob tends to dark, simple clothing, simple fare and drinks wine or ale only with meals and in small quantities. Coffee though, he is fond of, and takes with a small splash of milk.
