Adeline Murray

Name: Adeline Murray

Nickname/Title: Dell

Age: 26

Birthplace: London

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Play-By: Catherine Steadman

Occupation: Nurse-midwife

Physical Description:
Adeline is not traditionally beautiful, but her gray-green eyes and faintly smirking smile have a certain interesting quality. She is somewhat on the short side, though hardly fragile in spite of her small size, and perpetually exhausted-looking thanks to the demanding hours of her occupation.

Distinguishing Features:
She bears a thin scar running from behind her left ear to her temple, and her hearing in that ear is still affected by the old injury.

Personality Description: She enjoys a good joke, but won't tolerate any sort of back-talk from anyone but her midwifery patients. She's a warm soul, inclined to protectiveness toward nearly any orphan, abandoned kitten, or injured baby bird that crosses her path.

Characters History:
Adeline Murray was born to a dockworker and a former housemaid, the youngest of their three children. When she was ten years old, her mother died, leaving her the sole female presence in the cramped flat; and so, from age ten to thirteen she was little better than a servant to her father and brothers.

When her stepmother came along, she hoped for some reprieve. What she got was two more brothers and a stepmother whose only interest was scolding the oldest children for imagined misbehavior while encouraging her own sons to do whatever pleased them. Adeline's brothers were able to move away from this environment when they married, making her the sole target until she was able to go study nursing and join a field that meant she could finally leave the docks.

Goals: Adeline has few goals beyond becoming a beloved fixture in the district where she nurses, and perhaps one day getting married.

Likes: She likes storytelling, a good cup of tea, and the atmosphere of love and joy surrounding the healthy babies she delivers to the women of her district.

Dislikes: She detests violence, and hates those times when she cannot hand over a healthy child but must tell the family it is stillborn.
