Physical Description:  A strapping man, he stands straight and tall at nearly 2 meters.  Dark brown hair is worn short, as is the fashion in the Navy.  His dark brown eyes are penetrating and he normally wears a fashionable suit and great coat as the situation presents.  He is either smiling warmly or smirking at a joke that no one else understands.  He rarely has a look of concern on his face.

Personality Description: Born the fourth son to an old and distinguished noble house, Thomas never wanted for anything, but knew from childhood that he would inherit little more than a pittance compared to his eldest brother.  It forced him to grow self reliant and gave him very much a 'devil may care' attitude.  He came to love the small things in life and took chances that he was just happy that his mother never found out about.

Characters History: Thomas was born in a town named after his family, in a castle that had been in his family for over 4 centuries.  They held not only the titles and the land, but the wealth as well.  They were no impoverished noble family, owned huge tracks of land through out the empire as well as interest in numerous ventures.  Everyone in town was subservient to his family.  He grew up in the lap of luxury, but with the knowledge that it was his brother's destiny to inherit the castle, the title, the lands, the investments.  It was his brother that got all the real attention, that everyone fawned over.  Being the 4th son, he had only three real choice in life, the church, academia or the military.  He choose the her Majesty's Royal Navy.  As befit his station, he was admitted to the Royal Naval Academy and graduated as a commissioned officer.

He set sail on the HMS Duke of Wellington for the Crimean War.  It was glorious, the Duke of Wellington was the most powerful ship in the world, 131 guns, massive steam powered screws and towering sails.  Thomas led men into combat against the navy and army of the Russian Czar.  He learned to fight, not only with, pistol, rifle or sword, but with his bare hands.  Every 6 months, the ship would have a smoker, where any man could fight another in a bare knuckled boxing match, Thomas was undefeated in his time on the ship.  In his time on the ship, he became known simply as Fitz, bare knuckle champion of the Duke of Wellington.

His next tour took him to the shores of China, it was there that he was immersed into the culture of the orient, learning their form of hand to hand combat, getting a number of tattoos, and even trying the oriental opium.  He might have stayed there, if word had not reached him of the death of is father and all three of his older brothers.  It was important enough to have one of the ships in the task force turn around and steam all the way back to England.

Thomas now finds himself in a position he never expected and never prepared for.  He is now the 14th baron of Berkeley and holds a seat in the House of Lords.  Berkeley is not far from London, and he can stay at Berkeley Castle or the family home near Worchester, Spetchley Park, whenever he likes, taking a train or carriage, but he prefers to spend his time at the home in London.  Unknown to any of his people, he has a small apartment in a more run down part of town, it is to there that he really goes to escape.

The only one who knows of all of his activities is a friend who left the Navy with him, Chief Petty Officer Avery James.  A true friend, he helps to cover up for Lord Berkeley's many shortcomings as he had while they in the Navy.
