Naomi Brians

Naomi Brians

Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Age at the time of departure: 21

Appearance
Physically, Naomi is a rather slight, thin, nerdy looking girl with slim, stick-like limb, pale, somewhat pasty skin. She has long brown hair that looks like she hasn't bothered to cut or style in months, and it seems filled with oil, dirt, and grime. She is an overall short girl, although not too below the average. As far as clothes go she usually wears either a labcoat or a hooded sweatshirt. They're almost always grimy, oily, and dirty, and sometimes even ill-fitting. Some say that she is actually rather pretty when she gets sleep and cleans herself up, but unfortunately she is a person who quite clearly doesn't care much about her appearance.

Personality
To call Naomi obsessive would be a bit of an understatement. She is an extremely driven girl, able to work on whatever task she chooses for hours or even days on end. She spends any time not directly working with her obsession reading or learning about it, whether through fictional novels and stories or through more direct means such as scholarly texts and articles. However, she is strangely fickle in a way. Her obsession can change depending on the day or even hour, she has explored everything from space, to chemistry, and even into history. Her primary obsession is robotics, she's always interested in it even if she has a different facet of science she's exploring. Naomi can be a bit aloof and distant. She makes few friends, and has more than a bit of trouble expressing herself. This can lead to her seeming rather caustic and mean, even if she isn't trying to be anything like that. She also has a slight tendency towards obliviousness, like being confused as to why people wouldn't want to be her test subjects. Perhaps surprisingly, she has quite the sweet tooth.

Background
Naomi was born into a rather normal, if wealthy, family. Her father is Jacob Brians, an executive at Sensou Defense, while her mother Chie works as a biological engineer at Genetech Developments. They were supportive and caring, but both parents tend to work a lot, leaving her alone. Naomi thought the world of her parents, even if she has always had trouble expressing it in a meaningful fashion. She also has two siblings, an older sister named Miho and a younger brother named David. She looked up to Miho, but the older sister is currently studying Computer Science abroad, leaving Naomi with few chances to speak with her. She has something of a more caustic relationship with David, probably because she's used him as a guinea pig for her experiments a few too many times.

Ever since a young age, the girl's capacity for information and learning were quite apparent. She managed to read and write at an exceptionally young age, and she found herself programming and tinkering with her toys before she knew it. However, all of this came at something of a cost, since while she was good with books and machines she always had trouble with people, barely even making friends in kindergarten. She didn't care though. After all, when one had the internet, books, and all of the fancy toys money could buy, who needs friends? She was happy with her childhood, reading about all sorts of scientific subjects.

She began to become a bit bored with school by the time she entered high school. They never progressed to the interesting subjects fast enough, and she had to waste time with Physical Education and humanities courses that barely interested her. Still, she began to learn more about the world around her regardless, filling in her classes at school with supplemental books and textbooks from higher grades. She started to learn more about programming, and fell deeply into the lore of science fiction. Science fiction was a form of writing that was useful. It could inspire her, drive her to try and figure out futuristic technologies. It was brilliant, it was beautiful, and she found herself hooked.

Life continued more or less the same through college. She enjoyed it far more than high school. She had a bit more freedom to explore what topics she wished, and she was far less restrained, able to take higher level courses. She even managed to make a few friends, and had a relaxing college life. However, there was always something missing. That spark, that drive, that glory. She had seen it in so many of her stories, the dreams of the future. She wanted to be part of those dreams, she wanted to live in the future rather than the present. She wanted to be part of something beautiful and amazing. She ended up joining up as a Research and Development Engineer at Sensou Defense, although little did she know a far greater destiny awaited her...

Upon hearing about the chance to go into space and be a part of the Human Expansion project, Naomi was ecstatic. She was always obsessed with futuristic technologies and science fiction, and she cared quite seriously about the future of humanity. When the call was put out to join the mission to literally save humanity, she was thrilled and immediately signed herself up. As a member of Sensou Defense, she was able to get a position as an engineer or science officer quite readily, and she is more than devoted to the cause.
