Kraig stands 6’2” inches tall and weighs 232 pounds.  He has an athletic build and is still in very good shape.  He has twinkling blue eyes, light brown hair, and sports a Van Dyke beard.  He has a diagonal scar about 5 inches long on his abdomen from his first combat wound and a 2 inch long scar on his right shoulder from another combat wound.

Kraig Anderson was born in Milgrom, the capital of Bekenstein. Although quite intelligent, his middle-class parents could not afford to send him to university. Kraig therefore enrolled in the Alliance Navy, where he was noticed by his superiors, and promoted to Officer Candidate School immediately after basic training. He qualified for Flight Training, and specialized in piloting the A-61 Mantis Gunship.

Lieutenant Anderson was initially assigned to a Mantis flight aboard the Dreadnought SSV Mt. Fuji. He served well as a junior officer, and due to his ability to think on his feet, and develop unorthodox tactics and maneuvers, he earned a promotion and an assignment to the 103rd Marines, a Special Ops Division.

Lt. Anderson served in the 103rd's Aerial Support Brigade during the Skilllian Blitz. The Mantis he primarily used was a 'slick', a lightweight transport vehicle with only a heavy machine gun for defense, so that it could carry more troops. He was wounded during the bloodiest days of the Blitz, while making repeated extractions in landing zones so hot that his commanding officer refused to enter. On the first trip in, Anderson was wounded in the shoulder. He continued to make extractions, and was wounded in the abdomen while carrying out the last group of survivors. For his heroism, Anderson was awarded the Medal of Valor, as well as the Medal of Sacrifice for his injuries.

Captain Rahbar had to pull some strings to get Kraig assigned to Project Unity. Her interceptor squadron was present at the battle when he made his heroic rescues, and his courage impressed her greatly. The two sometimes meet for dinner. During these meetings, they do not to talk about the Blitz.
