Galvyn Bairrfhionn

Name: Galvyn Bairrfhionn, most call him Galv.
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Occupation: Stablemaster and Hunter for the Kentigem noble family.
Species: Human
Languages: Common

Powers: While a good marksman and excellent tracker, Galvyn is an average human, and thus possesses no notable powers. He does, however, share friendship with a Darkhound named Cardha, the two forming a cohesive and strong team.

No one knows the precise origin of the Darkhounds; imposing, panther-like creatures that can reach the size of a small horse and seem more at home within the tales of monsters than hunting in the woods of Oirghialla, they are highly intelligent and cunning predators, capable of sneaking up on even the keenest of beings. Their name comes from their black hide, which they use during nocturnal hunts as camouflage, while their svelte constitution and muscled feet allow them to sprint over vast distances while chasing their pray. Their claws and teeth are their primary methods of killing, though the two small claw-like appendages on their chest have been seen to be used as aids during eating, or as an added damage to fleeing prey.

The Darkhounds usually hunt alone, with the females tending to the newborns only long enough for them to fend for themselves.

Appearance: Galvyn's years of training and hunting have shaped him into a well-proportioned, lean man, though his many days spent within the forest have earned him a rugged, hard appearance. His medium-length hair frames his green eyes, while his beard varies wildly between being freshly shaved and fully grown, depending on when he finds the time between tending to the stables and hunting game to engage in grooming his appearance.

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 156 lbs
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Black
Hair Style: Medium-length
Complexion: Medium
Body Shape: Lean

Clothing: Galvyn is usually garbed in dark-blue leather armor, as is common for countryside hunters. Due to the coming winter, however, his forearms and calves are wrapped in leather warmers, while also wearing a fur coat for added protection against the cold. In regards to hunting tools and weapons, he often carries a bow, a quiver of arrows, an axe, a knife and tools for skinning and carrying game.

Personality: While a highly respected individual within the town of Brendt, as one would be if one were to serve as a noble's stablemaster, Galvyn is a socially withdrawn person, preferring the company of horses and Cardha as opposed to that of humans, with the exception of Reghan Kentigem, the nobleman under which he serves. He values all life, be it human, animal or other, and will try his very best to ensure their survival, as evidenced by his relationships with both Cardha and Ianna, or, should he be hunting, to deliver a quick and painless death to his prey.

Merits: A precise marksman, agile hunter and survivalist, Galvyn's skills are also useful away from the forests, for his keen sight and mind allow him to quickly arrive to possible conclusions and act upon them without stalling for preparations. His innate empathy for all living things and deep respect for nature also allows him to bond with animals and tend to them.

Flaws: While wise, Galvyn did not receive any formal teaching due to his peasant upbringing, and thus is illiterate and knows only the basics of the kingdom he lives in, let alone of the realm in which he is located. Furthermore, while his age has made him wiser, he can often still be reckless, something which usually leads to undesired circumstances. He is also more used to tending to beings that don't converse with him, leading to him being a bit awkward in some social interactions.

At the end of the day, he is only human, and thus is just as vulnerable and mortal as any other.

History: An orphan raised by the folk of the town of Brendt, Galvyn was trained in the ways of the hunter since the day he could first hold a bow properly, for there were many mouths to feed and the winters in the north of Oirghialla were harsh and long. It did not take long to see that the boy had a natural talent for this particular sort of work, thus placing him in the hands of the rangers who, every early morning, would carry him with them during their hunts for lunch and dinner. It was during this time that he had met Ianna, a creature unlike any the lad had ever seen before, and who would later become his most precious friend.

When Galv wasn't hunting, he enjoyed seeing the stablemaster tend to his horses; It was clear that animals were a central part to both the countryside and Galv's life, and thus the stablemaster, seeing the enthusiasm within the boy, eventually allowed him to learn how to tend to not only horses, but animals in general. This knowledge would soon be put to good use, for during his teen years, while hunting on his own, he came across a wounded and dying Darkhound cub. The beast, only slightly larger than a house cat, was bleeding from a long gash that trailed from its left shoulder all the way to the left side of its tail. Using his knowledge of herbs and wound-sealing, the boy did his best to keep the creature alive, before carrying back to his home. While the other hunters were reluctant to stay close to such a creature, they did allow the boy to keep it, for Darkhounds only attacked lone humans when desperate and never groups of them.

Given time, the wound healed, leaving only a white scar behind, while the Darkhound matured and began accompanying Galv wherever he went. The two would come to be inseparable, while the young man gained the reputation of "beast tamer", which eventually earned the attention of the nobleman overseeing and tending to the city of Brendt, Reghan Kentigem. Impressed by his performance as both hunter and caretaker, the man offered the opportunity for him to serve as the family's stablemaster and hunter, an honor which Galvyn graciously and humbly accepted. Even after spending 7 years performing this duty and living a comfortable life, however, he did not forget his friends, and thus would always try to find the time to meet his dearest faerie friend, whilst also keeping her location and existence secret.
