The Copernican
HERO NAME: The Copernican
REAL NAME: Richard "The Copernican" Dawkins McBride
The Nova
• man(nish boy)
• White
• marked skin
• formal clothing
• cosmic costume

The Copernican can fundamentally control the gravitational fields of the universe around himself. Hence, "Gravity Manipulation" forms the broad base of his control.

Danger +1
Freak +2
Savior +1
Superior 0
Mundane -1

Burn: When The Copernican charges up his powers, roll + conditions he currently has marked. On a hit, hold 3 burn. On a 7-9, mark a condition. On a miss, hold 2 burn and mark three conditions.  Spend this burn on flares. All burn is lost at the end of the scene.

The Copernican's four flares:
Shielding: Call up a fast protective field to stop a danger. Spend 1 burn to defend someone else from an immediate threat, rolling + Freak instead of + Savior.
Moat: Spend 1 burn to create a barrier that will hold back threats as long as The Copernican keeps his attention on it. The GM may call for another burn if the barrier is threatened by particularly powerful enemies.
Boost: Spend 1 burn to supercharge a teammate’s efforts with The Copernican's powers, giving them a +1 bonus to their roll as if Team had been spent from the pool. (Due to the nature of their powers, this ability comes particularly in handy when working with Ricochet)
Overcharge: Channel the full capacity of The Copernican's incredible powers to overcome an obstacle, reshape the environment, or extend cosmic senses.  Spend 2 burn to take a 10+ when unleashing power.

Richard's mind’s eye opens, and he can see the world around him like never before. He can control it, at will, with ease. Of course, warping reality tends to have ramifications down the line, but in this moment of could he possibly be worried?

When The Copernican shares a triumphant celebration with someone, he will ask them if there is any fear in their eyes when they look at him. If they say no, he takes +1 forward and marks potential. If they say yes, immediately shift Richard's Danger up and Savior down.

When The Copernican shares a vulnerability or weakness with someone, he will tell them how they could stop him, if it came down to it. Give them Influence over Richard and clear one of his conditions.

• When did you first use your powers?
"Oh, I'll never forget was dad's big day, after all, the day all his postulates became palpabilities.  He calls it my 'second birthday'.  Of course, it's also the day he lost his first lab, and...all those people.."

• Who was the first person you accidentally hurt with your powers?
"I don't remember who all was hurt...I think it was everyone, they told me.  But Rebecca Sanders, Prajit Achari, Dave Patel, John Lu Park, Denise Oqubay...I memorized them because they d- because they didn't make it."

• Who, outside the team, helps you control your powers?
"Oh my dad, for sure.  I have to check in with him every 24 hours at least, a call or text or something.  He's gotta monitor me, y'know, just in case...just in case my 'levels' get too high or something, he doesn't really tell me all of it.  I don't think he's too happy with me being on this new team, but, he said it's okay so long as I keep checking in with him."

• Why do you continue to use your powers?
"I try not to.  I mean, I know I need to, sometimes, because I can, and, well...I guess I owe it to those five people to make this all worth it.  And my dad, of course."

• Why do you care about the team?
"They're awesome, really.  They- I don't wanna say anything like they care about me or anything lame like that, I mean, I'm pretty sure they're probably afraid of me too, like everyone else, but.  I guess, just, I guess they're just better at not showing it..?"

• When your team first came together, you destroyed your surroundings in the fight. Where was it? What did you destroy?

You hang out all the time with [XYZYX] to blow off steam.
You once hurt [LA MENTE] when you lost control of your powers.

Richard is "locked down"; give Influence to one teammate, [CITIZEN ZERO].
