Decorated hero of the Last War, Captain Alyre had once retired from service to persue his dreams as a writer.  Since the rise of Metal Breland, he returned to service to defend his nation against a most hostile neighbor.  His reluctance to rejoin the service stems not from cowardice, but from the love of his writing and family.  Flecks of white are beginning to take hold in his hair, though his skin continues to win its war against winkles.
