Aarlon

Aarlon (Level 10 Half-drow Rogue/assassin, 68 years, Available)

Born of a human mother who'd worked as a slave in a brothel and a drow father who he's never met nor has any means of identifying him, for his mother serviced too many clients in her days to make even an estimated guess who might be his father. His life was never easy, once his mother got too pregnant she was kicked out of the brothel and dumped into the stenchstreets of the city, where the slaves and unfortunate survive.

His mother survived just long enough to give him a chance at surviving on his own, she was killed when he was 10 years old because one of the neighbors didn't like the look she gave him. And so Aarlon was forced to fend for himself. He had the fortune that his looks favor his father, with dark skin and red eyes, only his auburn hair gives him away, but in the stenchstreets such things are not unheard of and he could on occasion pass for a drow.

As he grew older he started his life of 'crime' by lifting purses, the fact that he survives to this day proves that he was never caught, for the drow don't take kindly to having their money stolen. When he grew older he was offered a good sum of gold if he could make another citizen of the stenchstreets 'disappear'. Desperate for the money and never having been raised to be concerned with morality anymore than the average drow, he took the assignment, killing his target and earning enough money to buy some armor.

And so he slowly increased his skill, earned gold, and improved his lot in life. Until one day the old matron mother came to the stench streets, she was searching for a man who had information she needed and planned to torture it out of him. All the locals pointed her to the man's house. Aarlon, sensing an opportunity, stepped up to the matron mother, and for the audacity of speaking to a matron mother as a filthy half-breed, he nearly lost an eye, and retains the scars of that beating to this day. But he warned her that the house she was about to enter was in fact a trap, a group of ogre's were waiting for her to step inside and would then set the house on fire, and crush anyone stepping outside.

Impressed by the young man despite his impudence, she took him to her house, and he soon learned proper behavior. Although nobody is willing to admit that he's an official part of the house. He's 'solved problems' for the house for nearly 40 years.
