Xulcar

Xulcar is the only son of Myresril Zauthril, one of Sauphrina's younger sisters. Myresril much like Ahlysaaria never had the fortitude nor the foresight to become a priest and yet had a strong personality and skill in magic. She was at Sorcere during the time when Sauphrina and Arilissa and took over as Matron Mother, as such Sauphrina never quite trusted her yet like so many others couldn't prove that she was part of the plot either. So similar to Houndaer she spent much of her time at Sorcere. Xulcar in turn grew up at Sorcere under the protection and guidance of his uncle Houndaer as his mother put her focus into his sisters. Though Xulcar had a good head on his shoulders it was clear from a young age that he did not have the attention for the arcane, it is an art built around careful and practiced study. While Xulcar preferred to bully other children and to run wild. He spent his youth hiding from his uncle and skiving off lessons.

As time went on he found himself drawn to the Melee-Magthere, at first he would sneak in to watch and when they found that they could neither stop him from sneaking in nor catch and beat him he was aloud to come in and learn to fight first hand. At first they only invited him in so they could abuse him for being such a pain, yet, he quickly proved to be quite a quick learner. He was lithe, nimble, and his intelligence lent itself well to picking up just the right angles and moments to strike for maximum damage. His skill in the Melee-Magthere brought him under the notice of House Zauthril. It was the old Weaponmaster that saw him for what he truly was and pulled him back into the family to truly learn the arts of stealth and killing. As time went on he continuously proved himself a valuable weapon and given the fact that he keeps his cards close and was seemingly more than willing to take whatever jobs were offered to him he became a very valuable pawn. The truth of the matter is he enjoyed power as well as killing, he also enjoyed the thrill of a good fight. Yet, over the years he had learned it was better to not let others know what one thought.

Xulcar's many successes and skill finally helped to bring his mother back into her sister's good graces and the two even made amends. Yet when he finally was just able to grasp at the cusp of power and say his chance through his mother and aunt's relationship disaster struck. The silence of Lolth had come which threw everything into turmoil and then came the slave revolt. The chaos turned everything on its head. In the end his mother died along side her sister against the storm giants. A few months later Xulcar found himself in the mushroom fields cursing his own bad luck that his cousin and now Matron Mother for her stupidity and bravado that was sure to get him killed by a horde of Duergar. He quickly found himself dumbfounded however; at her sheer dumb look or perhaps he thought at her carefully laid plan. He couldn't help but wonder what forces were at play behind the scenes for everything to come to such a fortuitous end.
