Daniel was born into a religious family in California. Though he stayed to himself most of the time with his school work and other interests his life was good. Until he turned 13 and his powers started to manifest. He didn't know much about mutants as his family was against the ideas of evolution and thought anyone with powers was working with the devil. It started with him hearing voices. Sometimes a few words and other times a whole sentence or two. He had started to think he was schizophrenic until objects started moving or flying across the room. As his parents started to notice and it became harder to deny something was happening his parents concern became his dread.
He started hearing their concerns of demons and devils in his head, which made him feel paranoid. But one night he heard a mob of voices part of it was in his head the rest was in his living room. As the ideas of torture to cleanse the demons made him really start to believe he was losing his mind, it was at that moment his bed room door opened and there was eight people including his parents with ropes, chains, sticks, and other tools. They told him not to be afraid that they were going to help him. He finally figured out it would be better to be crazy than to stay where he was and the heightened adrenaline and fear caused a telekinetic shockwave that knocked everyone down and blew out his windows, which he used as a quick retreat.
Spending days on the streets alone, concerned about his mental health and not hearing anything about him being missing he ran into a small group of mutants living on the streets. They helped him to understand what he was. Together with them and having all the free time in the world he began to learn about his powers. Every waking moment for him was training. Every obstacle was a test to overcome. Whether it was training with his telekinesis in hidden areas or using his telepathy to surf through people's minds. He made his powers a part of him and used them as he did any part of his body. About two months after leaving his home he went back and waited for his parents to leave so he and his group could ransack the house. They took money and such but his main concern was to find certificates and the like he could use to Id himself. He wanted to be able to continue his life without any involvement from his parents so a drivers licence and bank accounts were much needed.
After a few years he kept watch over his group a few humans runaways had joined up with them, mostly for the protection. Which didn't bother Daniel as he learned made skills useful on the streets as well as using his power to help some connected people do a few illegal activities. A group of guys he had sought out in Vegas and some near the boarder. He only let his powers be known to a few and they were happy to have his assistance in finding people they couldn't trust or make sure law enforcement was looking everywhere but at them. Then things went south. Mutant hate groups started becoming more violent. Attacks increased and humans allies decreased. After a violent exchange with a hate group and one of his group getting injured and all of the hate group getting hospitalized. His group either scattered or got caught and arrested for assault with deadly weapons. He was once again alone so he left and traveled all the way to the east coast where he began using his powers at local colleges to learn as well as sell test answers he pulled directly from the minds of the teachers.  Once he was secure in his learning he went to acquire his Equivalence diploma and try to move on to a more legal life style. He ended up making his way to Paragon city.
