Takuto Hideaki began as a scout and tracker in the Star City Guard, and is now the youngest Commander of the Elite Guard of Star Lake City much to the chagrin of some of the veterans on the Elite Guard. He is the second son of Gen. Yamamoto Hideaki, head of the Hideaki Clan and leader of the Star Lake City Guard and Militia. Being commander of the Elite Guard, he is responsible for assigning the protection of Star Lake City's governing family, and personal bodyguard to childhood friend Princess Yuuki, as she refuses to listen to any other guard after being rescued by Takuto.

Star Lake City is a small city located at the base of the mountains at the mouth of the river that feeds the Great Star Lake. The city thrives on trade as it is located in a central region between the Desert Region to the South, Jungle and Mountain Regions of the West, Grassland Region to the East, and Northern Tundra Region. It is ruled by the Fujiwara Clan, with council from the Hideaki Clan for military and policing strategy and the Takahashi Clan for mercantile and financial advice. There was a third counseling clan, the Sobu Clan, that was banned from Star Lake City after it was learned that the clan's leader hired mercenaries from the Desert Region to kidnap Princess Yuuki. This was done in order to force Shogun Akira Fujiwara to adopt their harsh militaristic religion as the city's one and only religion. If the Shogun were to refuse, Princess Yuuki would have been sold into slavery. The Sobu Clan's efforts were thwarted when Takuto discovered and stopped the mercenaries in the act of kidnapping the princess. Stopping the kidnapping led to his promotion to Commander of the Elite Guard.
