Aubade, or Bawday as her friends call her, is the typical, driven over-achiever. Only her closest of friends would see behind that drive, would notice that something else peaked through on occasion. A sense, that she wasn't running towards anything but away from something. Those deep hidden hurts only partially visible to outsiders, when she took to the stage on open mic nights, much like this night.

From the crown of her softened, curled hair that smelled of lime, coconut oil, and brown sugar. To the naturally flawless caramel complexion of her face with dazzling hazel eyes, haloed with a smokey eye, nestled over a button nose and full lips painted in a glossy, glittery purple so dark under low lighting it could have passed for black. A shimmery, gauzy purple dress that complimented the shade of her lips, clung to her slight but busty frame, with shawls and dangling necklaces with various gemstones and sigil pendants draped around her neck and shoulders.

And as the audience watches, she belts out a melody that brings tears to several eyes as they sway in time with friends or lovers. A soul-rending note holds the night hostage for an unfathomable eternity, as the sultry, soulful voice of a young medical student enraptured those around her, making them feel whatever she demands of them in that moment. Slowly, as her voice faded, her head lowered causing her hair to drape sensually over her glistening collarbone under the spotlight. It was almost as if the room let loose a collective sigh, for a myriad of reasons intricate to each person, when it finally... stopped.
