Sal Warth

Appearance: Sal has an uncommon build for a Halfling- his limbs are longer and skinnier, his body more lean and thin. He has shaggy reddish brown hair, brown eyes with flecks of gold. a grin he wears almost constantly.

Background: Sal's father is the town drunk, and his mother a disgraced seamstress who tries to nurture and coax his father back to lucidity. As a result, Sal learned and used his independence from an early age, running amok among the mixed pack of kids that roamed the streets of Ventris during the day, and often roughing it with those that had nowhere to go at night. He is the jovial, disarmingly kind type, who will fall in with anyone, given only the chance. His heart beats to a slightly different tune, which causes him to be unfocused, to forget about others, and causes him to be very risky. He is very highly intelligent, and lucky- but he doesn't really boast unless prodded. He quickly established himself as a de facto member of the gang, but he always maintained his independence and aloofness. Only with Saria, the half elven maiden, did he let go of his heart- but then she was snatched up, given a life among nobility that she had always dreamed of- and practically sold to some slobbish lord. He was at the tavern one day not long after his 18th birthday, gambling without his heart in it, but drinking heavily. Never one to stumble, one thing he got from his dad, he was making his way to the rafters of the towns barn, where he had an agreement with the owner. as long as he kept things clean, did a few things for him around the barn, and watched over the animals at night, he could sleep there. despite his atrocious gambling habit, Sal was actually very good with his money, and managed to keep a pretty neat sum stored away, in the bottom of his shoe, of course, right next to the boot knife. He had from a very early age taught himself the staff, but he didn't tend to carry that around with him. he wished he had as he heard the branch snap and whirled around to catch the falling darkness of the blow.
