Phelan is dark in complexion and short and stocky in stature which often brings up questions concerning her ancestry (which she does not take well). She has dark black hair which she wears in a single tight braid that falls down the center of her back and reaches just past her belt. Phelan wears black leather armor and black boots that come up to the middle of her calf. She has a long sleeve shirt and pants that fall just slightly past the top of her boots. Both pant and shirt are a earthy green color. On her left hand she wears an iron ring which is very ornate and set with a strange stone in the center.

Phelan doesn't speak of her past, especially when it concerns the recently ended conflict in her homeland. Her acquaintances get the feeling that she lost family and friends on both sides because, when it comes up in conversation she tends to change the topic and if questioned further her answers tend to be vague and terse. She takes ale and other strong drink but never to the point of inebriation. Her sense of humor is very dry. In fact, she rarely laughs and only seems to smile when she has made a substantial dent in a foe's hide. She is adept with both bow and sword.
