A very peculiar looking gentleman.  Doctor Wayland's preference for top hat's made him seem taller; his current hat of choice is burgundy and of sturdy construction suitable for travelling.  A frizzy mass of blonde curls refused to be constrained by even this fine hat.  He wears dark blue-tinted spectacles, complete with black leather side shields.  When his dark eyes can be seen, there is a wild intensity there.  Depending on his mood, it can seem adventurous or frightening.  Speaking of moods, the Doctor's are very mercurial, given to swinging suddenly and rapidly from one to another.

His clothing is no less eccentric and certainly attention grabbing.  A long, burgundy frock coat; well-mended and clean.  A bright silk waistcoat of golden yellow.  His trousers are mainly burgundy, with darker lines marking out a plaid.  His black boots are seemingly over-large, rising to mid-calf, and coated with some sort of thick rubber.

At his hip, in a somewhat complicated holster rig, is some sort of large pistol.  One of the new-fangled Gatling Pistols gaining such violent, chaotic popularity around the West.  A few spare ammo cylinders are arranged along the gun belt, along with the winding key.
