Dr Mycala Jackson ~ PGM ~ Mycala graduated University in Boston as one of the top of her class of doctors.  She was about to marry Forrest Rollins when the war broke out and he and her brother Richard went off to fight it.  She got word that both were killed in battle and was devastated.  A fellow student that graduated before her is the unscrupulous and Laudanum /opium addicted Dr Nick Slater (More on him further down)  She thought she was in love with him and when his wife died from falling down the stairs at their home in Boston both comforted each other and decided to get married.

On the very evening of their Wedding day she walked in and found her best friend at the time in bed with Nick and you can imagine the rest.  She turned and left.  Went to her home and packed a bag not knowing where she would go but she was leaving on the next train out of town.  Where at the station she picked up a newspaper and found an interesting want ad looking for a doctor for a small town in Southern Texas, she sent a telegraph to a Mayor Bosch in Laredo, Texas and she would be stopping over in St Louis, Missouri if he wanted to send a message back to her at the train station there.  She signed the letter Dr M Jackson.  So there was nothing to say that she was male or female.  There was a promise of a nice house in town and the surgery examination room would be furnished with the best of everything.  She would live there free and take care of the needs of the town and others.  Low and behold she did get a reply and that the job was hers.

She had no idea that Nick Slater would follow her or what she would find in this rough frontier town... Mayor was truly a gentleman and allowed her to stay when she got there.
