Theo

Theodore Voss, Theo to his friends, is a lithe, athletic man that stands out even in a crowd of his colorful fellow SeeD mercenaries. And it isn't just his choice of attire, or any particular physical feature. The man just holds himself in a way that draws the eye. When at rest or on the move, he is like some graceful jungle cat given the form of a man. It is that casual and comfortable air of martial competence that draws at the subconscious. Which is not to say that he appears to be some boiling cauldron of violence. Indeed, most of the time he seems to have a quite smile attached to his face. Like a man who is both amused and at ease in most situations.

Because otherwise he is not overly remarkable. He has a short, pragmatic haircut. Just long enough to look shaggy, but short enough not to obscure his vision. His sky-blue eyes nicely compliments his blond hair. His choice of attire is both practical and stylish in his eyes. Simple blue jeans and white collard shirt are offset by a distinctive red jacket that comes with a nice black hood. The black gun-belt at his waist holds two holsters, which in turn hold his beloved customized revolvers: Eydis and Marta. That same belt also holds his seemingly endless speed-loaders. As he is more concerned with grace and speed, Theo has chosen to not armor himself at all. As his fighting style relies on intense footwork, any extra weight could throw off his weight and reaction time, and that simply cannot be allowed.

In his heart of hearts, Theo is a true pragmatist. Long before he came to Balamb Garden, he learned that being smart was the best way to tackle any situation. Which isn't to say that the young man is all grim and serious. Far from it. Just because he is more than willing to get his hands dirty doesn't mean that his lust for life has been dampened. Theo enjoys a good quip, a well executed prank, and the laughter of his peers. This attitude serves him well as a mercenary, as he is able to both compartmentalize easily, and yet he is highly focused on accomplishing his mission. But when it is time to play, Theo likes to play. Not every leisure moment is mischievous however. When not palling around with others, Theo enjoys reading a good book, and magic tricks. He's getting really good at palming cards. Much to the chagrin of anyone who plays Triple Triad with him.

Despite growing up in Balamb, Theo was originally born in the Duchy of Dollet. His mother was a fishmonger who happened to meet and fall in love with an engineer from Dollet who was on vacation at the time. As these things happen, the young couple had a whirlwind first meeting, and she moved away with him after only knowing him a few scant weeks. It was only a year later that they were marries, and a year later than that when Theodore was born.

He favored his mother's looks, but he inherited his father's keen intelligence. Theirs was a happy life for a time. He was raised much as other children are, having all the normal triumphs and heartaches of childhood. He can honestly say that for the first six years of his life, he was truly happy. He had a loving family, plenty of friends, and they lived comfortably off his father's salary. But it would not last. There was no grand, epic tragedy to Theodore becoming an orphan. They all happened to be in the car one day on the way to their local grocery store when they got into an accident. Theodore was the only survivor.

Not wanting to be a child of the state, Theodore decided all on his own that he was going to forge his own destiny. He escaped from his hospital room before he could be taken away, and made his way to Balamb all on his own. His mother always spoke of the beautiful waters and homey atmosphere. He hoped that maybe he had some distant family there. He braved the wilds and the monsters therein to reach the small island, but he eventually made it. Hopes of a family reunion were quickly dashed when he finally arrived however. He had no other family. But Theodore would not give in to despair. Balamb was famous for its Garden. And if Theodore had no family, he was going to make sure that he grew up on his own terms, and learned the skills to take care of himself, and potentially even make his fortune.

Theodore applied and was accepted into Balamb Garden, and has spent the past decade training to be the best SeeD that he can be...
