Born somewhere north of Lake Nyr Dyv, Matrim was abandoned close to the lake by his parents for being the ‘runt’ of his brothers. Taken for a sickly baby, due to ashen white skin, he was taken in by a passing Merchant couple as they were walking by. They raised him, and grew concerned that his skin never gained any colour past his ashen white.

Until a passing traveler told them that he is, in fact, a member of the Goliath race. Everything began to make sense for Matrim and his parents, and thus he was trained to begin relations with other families to expand his own family’s trade empire, being that he could easily intimidate others (Being 7'11" and mostly muscle helps). But even being raised as a human, his Goliath fierceness remained, which cause him to become a driven, but fair, negotiator. He still had to have an outlet to channel his fierceness, and began roaming the woods for days at a time. It was during one of these forays, when he returned with a bear slung over his shoulder, that the townsfolk took to calling him “Bear-Breaker”.
