Appearance description: Tensho is a shorter and more slender boy than his peers. A thin boy with black hair that hangs past his shoulders. His hair is a pure black with a blue-green shimmer, thick strands that drape down to frame his face with those bright blue eyes, and pool down from his shoulders; almost like a waterfall of ink itself. His skin is fair, almost pale from spending so much time inside. He dresses in loose pants that are tied to be tighter around his ankles, and a tunic that would be loose, if not for the obi wrapped around his midsection keeping it tight. Under his tunic is mesh that shows through the wide neck hole of the tunic, and down his bare arms, before tucking into finger-less gloves. The obi around his waist has no ornate bow in the back, but instead a large scroll hangs along the small of his back. Two sets of stacked scrolls along his back rest above the larger scroll, and pockets along his pants and waist store other ninja tools.

Personality:
Tensho is reserved, tenacious, and motivated at his core. He was born into a world where he was constantly on the run, and nobody could be trusted. Now he's in a curious position -- if he's ever going to rebuild his Clan and stand as an important figure, he needs to be confident, work with others, and ultimately trust them. His need for success makes him competitive, and he gives every challenge his all. He's not the most socially adept, but he makes strong bonds with few people.

CLAN
Enemies:
 - Kissaki Reo: A man from the Kissaki Clan that's looking to make a name for himself. A smart and quick sword fighter who seeks more than just destruction of the clans that fall to the Kissaki. He targets clans with traits that can be stolen; tools that can be re-purposed. The freely usable nature of the Sumi Blood became a point of interest from him, as it would help make up for the natural difficulties the Kissaki have with Ninjutsu and Fuinjutsu. Reo has captured and bleed multiple members of the Sumi Clan, but is always looking for more. He had captured Tensho as a child, but the boy was saved by his parents. He was tracking the three after their escape, but lost the trail after the bandit attack that killed the parents.

Allies:
 - Sumi Sōsho: Tensho's elder brother by ten years. He was a sculptor, with access to Water and Earth styles. When Tensho's family fled the Land of Whirlpools, Sōsho branched off on his own. He claimed it was to help the family travel easier, and to appear less suspicious, but he was really just leaving to save himself. His parents saw through his lies, but allowed him to go anyway, believing it was what was best for Sōsho. Tensho hasn't seen him since he was five years old; Sōsho is currently MIA, and is likely not traveling using the Sumi clan name.
 - The Uzumaki Clan: The Uzumaki Clan is the largest family in the Land of Whirlpools, and are becoming some of the greatest developers of Fuinjutsu. They claim to have never participated in the hunt for the Sumi Clan, and offer asylum to any members willing to take their offer. Originally, they claimed to work in unison; the Uzumaki using the Sumi Blood to create new Fuinjutsu. As the Sumi Clan fades from people's awareness, the Uzumaki take even more control, and those Sumi under their care are reverting back to harmless artists with no ninjutsu training. Despite their intentions, they are ultimately destroying the clan in a different manner. They would help any Sumi that came to them, but Tensho is eager to break the reliance upon the Uzumaki.

Kekkei Genkai: Chakra Ink Blood - The Sumi clan's blood is black with a blue-green shimmer like ink, and dense with chakra. It gives the members of the Sumi clan a higher threshold of chakra, but the most notable effect is that when their blood is used to create chakra seals, such as Fuinjutsu, it greatly enhances the power and capability of the seal. Much to the clan's chagrin, the blood itself is what holds the key. While members of the Sumi clan are especially proficient and predisposed towards Fuinjutsu -- anybody who gets their hands on the clan's blood can utilize it.

HOW THE CHARACTER GOT INTO THE HEALING RAIN TEMPLE?
Originally, the Sumi clan was a clan of artists. They rose to power and wealth in the Land of Whirlpools with art that was celebrated across the Five Lands. Each member of the clan was a master in some form of art -- painting, sculpture, calligraphy, etc. As the clan gained fame and the art grew in value, they began to be raided so their art could be stolen and resold. Even mercenaries hired to protect them and their art turned on them. The clan decided the only way to survive was to learn to protect themselves, to become masters of martial arts as well as ascetic arts. It was decided generations ago that every member of the clan would master one style of art of each, the two intertwining and enhancing skill in the other, and the clan once again thrived.

Martial arts helped awaken chakra inside the clan, awakening latent potential and turning the blood of the clan a darker and darker shade. Once their chakra was fully awakened, it turned a solid black with a blue-green shimmer, heavy and pulsing with chakra. A single curious shinobi of the clan tested the chakra-laden blood as ink to create fuinjustu with immense power. When it was realized that this trait was carried by all members of the clan, they became some of the greatest innovators of fuinjustu used by shinobi the world over.

Others grew jealous of the clan's growing power, and the secret of how their fuinjustu became so strong eventually got out. When others learned that the Sumi blood worked for anybody, members of the clan were caught, held prisoner, and drained to death. Other clans took advantage of the resource to enhance their own skills, and the once noble clan grew weaker and weaker as members were stolen. The clan eventually had no other choice but to scatter and take new names. Some remained in the Land of Whirlpools with new identities, working for the few clans that understood that a slow drip was a better use of the Sumi clan. Others traveled the world looking for new places to settle and hide, hopefully among people who had not yet heard the secret of the Sumi clan.

When Tensho was only five, he was stolen away from his family by a Kissaki Reo -- a young man that was after the Sumi Blood to make up for his own lack of ability with Nin/Fuinjutsu. Reo had intended to keep Tensho alive as a living source of blood, attaching tubes to siphon blood directly from the young boy's heart. His parents and older brother managed to sneak into the facility to save Tensho. In their urgency to get out, they had to remove the contraption off his chest quickly, and their focus on the more vital points, the device left a scar in the shape of an X over his heart. They fled the area, seeking to find new identities and hide among those who wouldn't know who they were or the value of their blood.

Sōsho, his older brother took his own path, leaving in the middle of the night, believing a smaller group would do better to reintegrate in a new place. Tensho's parents died while they were fighting off bandits who had no awareness or interest in their precious blood. Tensho managed to release a seal to finish them off after his parents were already dead. Tian Long arrived too late after the fight was over, but managed to piece things together. He brought Tensho back to the Healing Rain Temple, and continued the education that his broken clan had started.
