TWO A - PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

Description

Li Ting is a tall, willowy woman with skin the colour of cassia and long raven tresses.  The sharp angular features that define the Han peoples give her prominent cheeks and a somewhat severe-looking facial expression at rest, despite the plump lips like cut plums under the slightly flattened nose.  Her espresso eyes are framed by long lashes and tented by wide eyebrows that look like elegant caterpillars crawling over her brow.

Li Ting moves with the flourished grace of someone enviably comfortable in her physical body and equally aware of it with just a hint of showing off.  She doesn't walk.  She floats.  She doesn't run.  She bounds.  She doesn't stand.  She poses in ever-changing stances.  The clothing she favours--she's apparently an aficionado of the "Hanfu" revival--enhances and draws attention to that motion of hers with its loose, wide sleeves, the flowing long skirt and short overskirt, the sash, and even the little jade trinkets dangling from the sash to tinkle against each other with every step.  It's all chosen to call attention to herself, with a colour scheme which is blood red above and on the sash, while black on the collar, the cuffs, and the skirts.  The net effect of all of this is not one of great beauty but, rather, of eye-catching presence or "idiosyncratic" beauty.

When she speaks it is with the composed assurance of a trained vocalist.  She has a natural vibrato when she talks and a wide range, both tonal and dynamic, with a slight "whispery" timbre.  Her eyes, too, are always watching, always observing, and always seem to contain just a little hint of the sparkle of mischief.
