Warren, spent his entire life in the woods of Northern California. He enjoyed the outdoors more than being at home. A typical day for Warren was chores on his grandfather's ranch, school, more chores, then out in the woods hunting small game with his Marlin .22 or just sitting high in the boughs of a redwood listening to the wind. The outdoors provided an escape for Warren's vast imagination.
When Vietnam broke out Warren enlisted as soon as possible. It wasn't war that prompted his immediate decision, but his desire to fulfill an American role in history just like his father, uncles, grandfathers and great-grandfathers had. So as soon as high school was over, he shipped to basic.
