Jarotar's moniker is an obvious one; the gleam of auburn in his beard is healthy and rich. He claims it is the same nickname as had some ancestor of his, a famous name among his fellow cultists, someone whose deeds he tries to live up to.

Indeed, he's tried well to be close to deeds likely to reach history, even if that often got him in over his head. While battling in Esrolia to keep Ernalda's lands from falling into Lunar hands, the man very bitterly fought off the soldiers seeking to take Nochet and was gifted with arms and armor by the queen herself. He later used them with excellent results at Pennel Ford, watching the heroic king Broyan beat the Lunars so very devastatingly.

Not content to return home after that, Jarotar chose to travel to Prax with Argrath, having been impressed with his performance at Pennel Ford. After acclaiming Argrath as king there, he did at last go back home to the Ernaldori Tula: hearing of the dragonrise and the annihilation of Lunar presence in Sartar made the man realise that much might yet change back home in the months to come.
