Physical Description:
Gloria Hawks is a entirely forgettable woman until she wants to be remembered. She has light blonde hair that can be pulled back to make her look plain or can be curled and styled to make her the center of the room. By choosing to wear her glasses and bulky clothing she comes across as a librarian. When she wears something that reveals her natural curves she is a seductress. One might say that Gloria could almost shape shift her appearance, though she would never admit to that- even if her hair changes from red to brown to black back to blond depending on the stakeout she is involved in. If you were to ask her, she'd say that she has a supply of wigs. Odd how she can change them on a busy street.
Like her appearance, Gloria's general nature conforms to what is needed. When she is around her boss and her friends, her true nature comes out. She is a giddy playful spirit with a zest for life. This is apparent in her natural dress and the way she walks. Gloria can absolutely light a room.
Gloria's Slyph form:
Gloria in her true form is more air, water, and magic than her Human form. If she were ever to take this shape it would be easier to consider her a wisp of smoke than an actual being.
Distinguishing Features:
Gloria has no distinguishing features other than a small tattoo on the low of her back, It is four lines crossing to make a eight pointed star or possibly a compass rose depending on which angle you look at it. Oddly the North never seems to be pointing straight up... in stead it seems to point whichever way the wind is blowing- very much like Gloria's nature
The Human
Personality:
Gloria is very good at her job. She has worked for Sorcerers since Prospero.(She was Ariel back then- Then there was the movie in 1991. A name change was needed) He was fun until he gave up the game. Over the years she has worked for several magic users as their assistant. At first she was trapped in the job, but after her husband found her once more, she realized that she could control who she "mentored," and she could keep her freedom things got much better.
Gloria is tidy and organized- which is what is needed for Oliver. True to her vaporous nature, she tends to become what is needed. Oliver apparently needs a housekeeper, a nanny, and a secretary. When she isn't playing "mommy" his words not hers, she helps Oliver with his investigations. Her natural abilities lend very nicely to detective work.
Gloria is dedicated to her husband Cal. In her eyes there is no other in comparison. Together they make all decisions about who she works with and they set the limitations on what exactly she does. Cal watches out for her and in turn she takes care of Cal. While she does flirt for her job, she has a strict policy of only words, even though she knows that Cal would prefer that be off the table as well. She is adventuresome and curious, but also fastidious and a problem solver.

The Not So Human
Species Description:
Gloria is a Sylph- a Spirit of water and air. She is by far the most famous of her kind. Once she was called Ariel and she helped the Wizard Prospero seek revenge on his enemies. She was freed and captured, and freed and captured. Eventually she just offered to work for a wizard and that worked out much better.
Sylphs are shape shifters and servants. They do things for the Wizards they serve. Fetch and carry, organize, remember spells, they are basically the perfect personal assistant.
Powers and Abilities:
Flight- Only in Sylph form which is invisible to Humans. In general Gloria chooses not to use this form of travel. She is intrigued with driving and walking. She finds it fascinating. Maybe in a few hundred years she'll get tired of it and go back to flying again.
Form Manipulations: Gloria can do minor changes to her appearance- changing her hair color and length, clothing changes. Nothing too dramatic. She thinks that's tacky
Wish Granting: She does this on occasion and in very limited means. First it has to be someone she is ether indentured to or indebted to. Second, it has to follow the rules- her rules. (She's not a genie- so don't demand things... she doesn't like that.)
Heightened Senses: Gloria's senses are slightly higher than a normal human. She can hear a little further if the wind is blowing in the right direction much further. She can see a little farther despite the appearance of her glasses, and she has a sensitive nose- which is another reason Oliver needs a housekeeper.
The Story
Character Background:
Gloria was born of the wind and rain in the middle of a storm. Prospero claimed her when he was banished on his island and used her as a servant to conduct his business, seeking revenge on those who had wronged him. She was separated from her Husband Caliban- her memories clouded so she did not remember her other half. When he gave up his magic, he freed Ariel and she left the island. Though she was curious about humanity.
Once again she found herself a slave to a wizard, and again, and again... finally she was traded as a commodity among those who use power, until Harry Houdini died unexpectedly ending her servitude. It was then she was found by Caliban (Cal). Once again they were reunited and using the same contracts that bound her as a servant to magic users- she is now bound to her husband- Cal. As the new technological age has advanced, Gloria has once again started working for Humans. This time she has handled things a little differently. With the modern age, women's rights etc., Gloria has become her own master and holds it as a standard. She chooses only to work for magic users that she feels are deserving.
One such magic user caught her eye in Chicago. She watched him in Sylph form for quite a while before she offered her services. The binding point was when she figured out he knew she was watching, but made no attempt to trap her. They settled on an agreement and she started out as his secretary. Over the years their partnership has grown and Oliver made her an official part of the business.
Gloria likes to handle the routine- the paperwork, watching Oliver's back with the powers that exist in the world now- namely government officials and crime bosses. She is his Girl Friday and likes it that way. From time to time he will pull her into cases which is an exciting turn around, but she is just as happy filing.
