Jack is a gumshoe, an alcoholic, and a hardcase.  He's a private detective.  Some people use the slang "Dick" instead of detective, and it pretty much suits him.  He's 6'4", built like a brick house, and has a sarcastic remark for damn near everything.  He works in profanity the way that Picasso worked in watercolors.  He's opinionated, stubborn, and generally an asshole....but somewhere deep down he's got a good heart, if you can find it.

  You want a detective, he's the guy you want, but you better be able to pay for his services, after all, he's got alimony payments to his three ex-wives.

  Jack ain't fancy.  You can't dress him up, or take him anywhere without some major payoff.
