Alyanna Seville

Description:
Alyanna is slight of build and petite, her pixie like appearance convey a certain physical frailty.  Her eyes are the same blue as the sky on a clear day, with midback length hair that glistens some where between silvery and golden.

Precocious, Amiable, Charitable, Charming are a few apt adjectives that befit her personable demeanor.  Capable of flitting between conversations and contributing regardless of language or topic.  Attractive... Bright... Desirable... and on top of that gifted and trained in the Talent.

History - Summary:
A priceless resource for Eteria, meant she was a formidable threat for her enemies.  At least two attempts were made to poison or assassinate her has left her cautious.  Loathe to have someone so useful be so vulnerable, efforts were made to improve her physical well being and ward her from bodily harm.  Promises were extracted from her to be more wary of her meals.

Her duties these days are many and varied.  Official functions for the source, confessions, mentoring, brewing potions, and scribing spells were all chores she handled without protest.  For the crown her various talents had no shortage of application.  Often charming translator, arbitrator, consultant, and royal advisor where among the duties that fell to her.  The time she called her own often had her pursuing various topics of research in the library as well as consulting the various artisan guilds on what could be done regarding the lost art of manufacturing magical tools.

History - Verbose:
She was born to the noble house of Savile, on the winter solstice.  Early as if anxious to greet the world.  The premature birth had her born slightly over five pounds and underdeveloped.  Doubts shadowed the happy occasion for the house of Savile as doubts over her future survival lingered.

It was after the new year, and two fortnights later that she had finally survived long enough to earn her name, Alyanna Olivya Savile.  At this time a small birthmark had started to develop on her bosom.  The mark was in the shape of a cross, and blessed existence was in part credited for her survival.

Very early on The Source held an interest in Alyanna, the blessed birthmark, an omen that she was a special child blessed by the source had been born.
They were ready to take her in immediately, eager to start her indoctrination.  Determined though they may be, the House of Savile was not without influence and managed to forestall such a thing till her sixth birthday, when normal children were bought to a temple of the source, and accepted their Blessings.

Those first six years were crucial for Alyanna's development, as her core values were formed, among them the values of loyalty and family.  A proper morale compass and an earnest desire to improve the lives of those around her.  All too soon, the tiny child that had blessed their household was turned over to the source.

For the next decade Alyanna served the Source faithfully.  Though slight of build and always underweight among her peers, her amiable kindness won them over, impressing her mentors with her mature attitude.  Days were spent learning how to read and write, learning scripture, and tenets of the source.  Even free time was spent in service to the Source, as she joined the temple choir, singing the glory of the Source through the Hymns of songs along with her brothers and sisters.

It was obvious that she was bright, and a voracious reader, digesting all that there was to read.  Scripture, holy text, sheet music, an insatiable appetite for information.  Nothing was too insignificant, or challenging for her.  Language was only a minor barrier, as she took to learning new languages as easily as a new song to be sung.  Her usefulness as a scribe or translator was all but assured until her thirteenth birthday.

A coming of age landmark, date for her, when she would reaffirm her dedication to the source.  She was tested with much anticipation, and against all odds, did not disappoint as it was found that she did indeed have the talent, though in what form and strength was still yet unknown.  It was a half a decade early from the norm but, she was brilliant and mature beyond what her years suggested.  The existence of such an gift could not be ignored.  She had already been educated by the Whitewall temple, a proper indoctrination was all that was needed now.  The effort to develop such a talent could be a significant boon for the Source.

A special gift... and yet not one easily mentored, so rare that there were none available to do so.  Arrangements were made, and a few months later during the Spring Solstice, Alyanna is sent to Summerwyn.  There, a mentor awaited to teach her the ways of the art.  Goodbyes were made with her family, and promises made to return and visit when possible.  Visits when any of them were in Summerwyn were promised from their end and then she was sent off, with a Snowdrop tucked behind her ear by her younger sibling for good luck.

For the next four years, Alyanna was mentored by the best talents in Summerwyn, very quickly becoming a peer among them, at the age of 17, when other were only considering to enter the Source to start formal training, Alyanna had completed it and joining the ranks of the Source heirarchy.

Her young age made her popular other young children who had the 'talent' bought for education.  Of an age closer to these children, she was more relatable and a popular mentor for them.  In Summerwyn she found libraries with more books than most would think were possible to be read in a lifetime, though that didn't deter her from trying.

The more she learned, the more she wanted.  The golden age of magics, when people with the talent were many fold more common.  When the relics of today were common place tools of the day.  What a world that must have been.  Knowledge was something she ever thirsted for, but there was a certain happiness with Ignorance that she soon found herself denied.

The loss of magic seemed to be tied to the Demon war... a dark era when the future was in doubt, until the demon Uathal had been suppressed once and for all... or was it all?  The more she researched, the more she learned, that forever was a very long time.  That the return of Uathal... or one like it would be a global disaster.  Lacking the magics of the bygone ear, would be a staggering handicap to win a second war.  The number of people with the Talent was ridiculous small in comparison.  The magical tools a relic that they were no longer capable of producing.

Disaster.  It was unlikely and something she hoped would never come to pass, but the horrors of such a possible occurrence kept her up at night.  Upon this secret fear she starts to labor to learn all that there is to learn about the lost arts, as well as do everything possible to recover lost knowledge.

Over the years, she's inked countless scrolls, and brewed what felt like barrels worth of Holy Elixir (potions) to keep the lost art of magic from dying out completely.  What she learned she shared with anyone with an interest and the talent for the art freely.  Countless days were spent working with artisans looking to forge new magical tools, and only meeting with limited success.  They were few and found only after many disappointments but here and there a few new magics slowly started to appear.  The talent and effort to craft them was staggering but it was a start.

Her apprenticeship long since finished, Alyanna has (with reluctance) declined a return to Whitewall.  She felt she was more useful in Summerwyn, working with the impressive artisans, and researching the royal library for the lost arts of spellcraft.  The crown and the church were mutually pleased to keep such a bright talent in Summerwyn, where she was more useful than some frontier province on the fringes of Eteria.

Here she developed a kinship with her Arcane counterparts in the First Circuit.  She is delighted to find a kindered counterpart among the arcane talented.  Jerelof Neri, a man more than twice her age, but with a keen interest regarding the inner workings of magical trinkets and artifacts.  There was much to learn, and much to share.
