Laila Myers Elliott is a retired nurse from Temecula. Quick to laugh and friendly to everyone she meets, Laila’s boundless empathy is undoubtedly her best quality. Though she is Charles’ second wife and they only met a few years ago, it’s clear that she is truly his better half. Laila is fiercely protective of those she loves, sometimes even willfully ignoring their faults. She can also be exceptionally hard-headed once she’s determined the best course of action, a trait which has sparked conflict in the past with some of the other survivors. As she’s fond of saying: “Only Superman can bend steel, and honey, you ain’t Superman.”

Laila knows Denny pretty well, and while they aren’t best friends, they have a strong relationship. Not being a farmer herself, she values Denny’s knowledge about the workings of the farm almost as much as she values Charles’ opinion.

Laila and Kara share an instinct for defusing tense situations, which tends to land them on the same side more often than not. Of the various refugees that have joined the enclave, Kara is likely Laila’s favorite.

Despite the fact that they’re both related to the Elliotts by marriage, Laila doesn’t particularly like Alex. Having seen Alex’s worst - a side brought out all too often by Kirby - Laila has publicly suggested several times that the sheriff should leave and start her own encampment. That statement hasn’t gone over too well with the others, particularly since everyone knows that Alex has been doing more than her fair share to keep the farm safe.
