Tall, handsome, athletic though slender, dark hair and flashing dark eyes, a good fencer, swimmer, and sailor/navigator. Competent with a revolver though not a great rifle shot. Grew up in the Pirate Isles and has accompanied his father Ruthven Despard "the Admiral of Teach" on dangerous raids since his early teens.
Fluent in Insular Indigene and French -- both criminal and educated. Sent to elite schools in both France and England, but spent much time in the more exciting  byways of Paris and London.
Determined to win his place and his sisters' places in Marland "good' society in accordance with his father's orders, even if it means restraining his baser impulses for a while.
