Arturo Marinucci

Born into a wealthy family built upon the success of his great grandfather, Arturo Marinucci once lived a privileged life of luxury. Despite this a rigid work ethic was drilled into him at a young age by his father that had determined that if he and his siblings wanted to gain their inheritance, they would have to earn it. And earn it he almost did, until a betrayal left him imprisoned and cut off from his family's resources. All seemed lost until his great grandfather's old business partner paid him a visit and made him an offer.

Embraced into the Ventrue line of Lodin in the early 1980s, Arturo quickly built himself back up to the comfortable lifestyle he was more accustomed to. As the reclusive proprietor of a high end hotel called the Winslow, he does what he needs to in order appease his betters while pursuing his own goals. While it is uncommon for him to pursue such dealings face to face, his other primary form of income comes from his work with the Black Market, sourcing and selling illicit goods for people who will pay him handsomely to act as a middle man.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Arturo Marinucci comes from old money. His great-grandfather made a fortune back in the 1800s in the textiles industry and for a long time, his family has been sitting pretty on the well-invested money that brought in. That did not mean however that growing up he was enabled to live an entitled, lazy life. As his grandfather and father made it very clear from a young age, he would need to earn his inheritance. And so once out of college, he went into business with a friend he met at school named Spencer Luttmann. They started several different business ventures over the years, making the most profit off of real estate investment. Unbeknownst to Arturo, Spencer and his soon-to-be ex-fiance Rosaline were not working as above board as Arturo was being led to believe. Using the properties they were investing in as a money-laundering scheme without his knowledge, they were eventually found out. Unfortunately for Arturo, the pair had conspired to ensure that the money trail led straight to him, resulting in Arturo taking the fall for their misdeed.

Rotting in jail, left destitute, and cut off from his inheritance, Arturo got a surprise visitor one day. A man who never gave his name but introduced himself as an old business partner of Arturo's great-grandfather. Not satisfied to let his old acquaintance's legacy end with a disgrace like this, he offered Arturo an opportunity at a second chance. To accept the Embrace. Desperate and feeling like he had little option left, he took the offer. On official records, Arturo committed suicide in his cell by hanging himself.

The unknown benefactor did not think it wise to sire Arturo himself, instead leaving that task to his loyal subordinate Cecil. Now a member of the clan Ventrue, he works to amass a fortune and power all his own. His primary income these days comes from two sources. On the one side, he has his hotel which caters to a more well-off clientele that also allows him to discreetly feed off his preferred flavor of choice, blood spiked with wine or hard liquor (none of that cheap peasant beer). On the other side, he has his primary income as a fence selling goods on the black market. This side of his business nets him connections and helps him to extend his reach so he can achieve his unlife's goal. To exact vengeance on Spencer and Rosaline Luttmann, along with their filthy progeny. He doesn't want to kill them, he wants to ruin them. He wants to take everything from them and leave them as broken and desperate as he once was.

Then he'll kill them.

The debt he would owe could actually be a driving force in Arturo's story through what you have planned. The debt Arturo owes was brought on by a sale gone wrong. He was supposed to be moving something extremely valuable on behalf of someone and he ended up losing said item before it reached its goal, either from his courier getting robbed or killed or something like that. What it was he lost could heavily depend on who he owes the debt to and what clan they belonged to. I would be willing to leave the specifics of who or what in that scenario if it helps your plan in any way.

So now, having lost the item, Arturo is expected to recoup them for the loss. Arturo is rather wealthy by mortal standards, but even he can't afford to pay the debt. He's been given 6 months to put the money together or he's screwed.

That is why Arturo is entertaining the idea of this coterie. He's maybe a month or so into his 6-month deadline and he needs some way to make this money. He thinks it might upset those above him to join forces with this group but he's willing to risk it because of how in over his head he is. He wouldn't actively share this with the group, of course, putting on the presentation that he's doing fine just fine.

And this actually kind of ties in with his lore sheet, what with him being a Descendant of Lodin. He does enough to remain in the Camarilla's good graces, but event with this group could be enough to turn him away from them more.

Arturo's Retainer and Touchstone for "Never expose children to violence." Louis Cable is the manager of Arturo's hotel during the day but he was been with Arturo since he was a boy. While Arturo was still getting himself established and while the hotel was being constructed he would have had to sneak into homes in order to feed while the families inside were asleep. One evening though he went to sneak into a home he had been casing the night before to find that the rear entrance to the home had already been kicked in. Hearing a yell from inside, Arturo went against his better judgement and went in, finding that his intended targets for the evening had just been murdered and the yell he had heard was a then 5 year old Louis being pulled from his hiding space by their assailant. Arturo used his growing powers in domination to stop the killer and quickly dispatched him. Even though the boy had seen him, he couldn't bring himself to kill the boy, instead opting to leave quickly and take young Louis with him. He would keep the boy as his charge for a while until he reached an adult age, at which point he would have offered to and subsequently made Louis a Ghoul.
